Which games a casino bonus can be used on, how much each game counts towards wagering, and what to check before you play a bonus on anything but slots.

Casino bonuses by game: why the game decides the value

Casino bonuses by game is the part of the site that answers a simple question: can I use this bonus on the game I actually want to play, and is it worth it there? The answer changes from game to game. A bonus that works well on slots can be almost useless on blackjack, because the terms may exclude table games, count them at a fraction of their stake towards wagering, or not allow them at all while bonus funds are active.

Three things decide how a bonus behaves on a game. First, whether the game is eligible at all; free spins are always tied to named slots. Second, how much each bet counts towards any wagering, known as the contribution percentage. Third, the game's house edge, because the cost of clearing wagering is roughly the wagering total × the house edge. A £25 bonus at 10x needs £250 of bets; on a slot with a 4% house edge that costs about £10 on average.

None of this makes a game easier to win. Bonuses never change a game's odds, and every game keeps its house edge whatever balance you play with. The cards below lead to a page for each game type, from slots and Megaways to roulette, live casino and bingo.

How casino bonuses by game compare

Contribution rates are set by each casino's terms, so the middle column describes what bonus terms commonly say rather than a fixed rule. Always check the promotion page for the exact list.

Among our partners, 10bet's welcome bonus must be wagered on slots, Casumo's terms say game restrictions apply, and the three spins offers run on slots only. For the reasoning behind exclusions, read why some games are excluded from bonuses.

What 10p free spins are worth on popular slots

Because most UK bonuses end up on slots, the slot itself shapes what a spins offer is worth. The table uses published RTP, volatility and maximum win figures. Average return is spins × stake × RTP, a long-run figure; 100 spins is a short sample, and high-volatility games in particular can return nothing or far more.

Casinos can run different RTP versions of the same game, so check the help screen before you play; UK rules require the RTP or likelihood of winning to be available before play under the Commission's game information standard, RTS 3 (opens in a new tab). PlayOJO's 80 spins at 10p are on Big Bass Bonanza (18+, first deposit £10+, no wagering, terms apply); Coral and Ladbrokes list their own selected games on the promotion page.

UK rules on games that changed how bonuses work

Several game rules sit underneath every bonus term. The slot stake limits apply per game cycle and are explained in the Commission's online slots stake limit guidance (opens in a new tab). A bonus max-bet rule, such as Casumo's £5, can be lower than the legal limit but never higher.

  • 31 October 2021: slot design rules banned autoplay, turbo and slam-stop, set a 2.5-second minimum spin and stopped losses being celebrated as wins; see slot game design rules.
  • 17 January 2025: those rules extended to other online casino games, with a 5-second minimum per game cycle.
  • 9 April 2025: £5 maximum stake per spin on online slots for players aged 25 and over.
  • 21 May 2025: £2 maximum for players aged 18 to 24; read online slot stake limits.
  • 19 January 2026: one incentive can no longer cover more than one product, such as casino and bingo together, as the Commission set out when it announced the promotion changes (opens in a new tab).

Feature buys aren't offered on slots at UK-licensed casinos, which is how games are supplied to Great Britain, so bonus funds can't be used to buy a bonus round.

The design rules sit in the Commission's RTS 14 standard on responsible product design (opens in a new tab), and they have a practical effect on bonus play. With a 2.5-second minimum and no autoplay, 100 free spins take at least four minutes and each one has to be started by hand. Bonus rounds that need no extra stake, such as a free spins feature triggered inside the slot, are exempt from the speed requirement.

How to use the game bonus pages

  1. Open the card for the game you plan to play, not the one with the biggest offer.
  2. Check whether the game is eligible and what share of each bet counts towards wagering.
  3. Work out the wagering cost using that game's house edge, or use the wagering calculator.
  4. Read game weighting explained if the terms give different rates for different games.
  5. If your game is excluded, consider playing without a bonus rather than switching to a game you don't enjoy.

For table games there is a dedicated walk-through, how bonuses work on table games, and for live dealers the live casino wagering guide explains why most welcome offers leave them out.

Choosing a bonus for the games you play

If you play mainly slots, almost any offer will work, and the choice comes down to free spins against a deposit match. No-wagering spins from Coral (100 spins at 10p after a £10 slots bet), Ladbrokes (up to 500 spins at 10p over ten days after £10 of slots play) and PlayOJO suit low-stakes players; payment exclusions and expiry apply, 18+. If you prefer table games or live dealers, it is often better to skip the bonus, because exclusions and reduced contribution can make the wagering impossible to finish within the deadline.

Whichever game you choose, set a budget before you start and use the deposit limit the casino offers when you sign up. The slots vs table games comparison puts the two side by side, and our casino bonus reviews list each partner's eligible games.

Jackpot and Megaways slots need a second look. Some casinos exclude progressive jackpot games from bonus play, and a deposit match may cap what bonus winnings can be withdrawn; 10bet's cap is £1,000. On high-volatility games, most of a slot's return comes from rare large wins, so a small bonus balance often runs out before one arrives. That is normal variance, not a sign that anything is wrong, and it is a good reason to keep stakes small and stick to your budget.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use a casino bonus on any game?

Usually not. Most UK bonus terms limit which games you can play with bonus funds and how much each game counts towards wagering. Free spins are always tied to named slots. Deposit matches are often limited to slots, with table games, live casino and some jackpot slots excluded or counted at a reduced rate. Each casino sets its own list in the promotion terms, so check them before opting in. Our excluded games question explains the usual patterns.

Which game is best for using a casino bonus?

Slots are where most UK bonuses can be used, because free spins are slot-only and deposit matches usually count slot bets in full. That doesn't make slots a better game to play; they still carry a house edge, and high-volatility slots can swing widely over a short session. The best game is the one you enjoy and that the terms allow. Our best bonus for slots question compares the offer types for slot players. 18+, terms apply.

Why do table games count less towards wagering?

Casinos usually give table games a lower contribution because games such as blackjack can have a lower house edge than slots, which would make wagering cheaper to clear. The contribution percentage is set in each casino's terms, so a £10 blackjack bet might count as £1 or nothing at all towards wagering. UK rules require these restrictions to be clear and available before you opt in. Our table games pages explain how to read the rates.

Do the £5 and £2 stake limits apply to roulette and blackjack?

No. The online stake limits of £5 per spin for players aged 25 and over (from 9 April 2025) and £2 for 18 to 24-year-olds (from 21 May 2025) apply only to online slots. Roulette and blackjack aren't covered. However, a bonus can still set its own maximum bet across all eligible games, such as Casumo's £5 per bet while a bonus is active. Read both the legal limit and the bonus terms, and use the lower one.

Can I use free spins on a slot of my choice?

Normally not. Free spins are credited on named slots, and the stake is fixed, typically 10p per spin. PlayOJO's 80 spins are on Big Bass Bonanza, while Coral and Ladbrokes list their selected games on the promotion page. If you prefer a different slot, a deposit match may give more choice, though it usually comes with wagering. Our choosing your free spins slot question explains the options. 18+, terms apply.

Does a bonus change the RTP of a slot?

No. A bonus changes your balance, not the game. The slot's RTP and volatility are the same whether you play with cash, bonus funds or free spins. What can differ is the RTP version a casino runs, because some developers supply more than one, so check the game's help screen. UK rules also forbid adaptive games that adjust outcomes to hit a target return. The RTP glossary entry explains what the percentage does and doesn't tell you.

Can I use a casino bonus on live casino games?

Sometimes, but welcome offers often leave live casino out. Where live games are allowed, they may count at a lower rate towards wagering. None of our partners' welcome offers is built around live casino: three are slot spins and the two deposit matches carry game restrictions. Check the promotion terms before playing live tables with an active bonus, because a bet on an excluded game can lead to bonus winnings being removed under the terms. 18+, terms apply.

Can a casino bonus be used on bingo?

Usually not. Since 19 January 2026, a single incentive can't cover more than one type of gambling product, and the Gambling Commission treats casino and bingo as separate products. A casino welcome bonus therefore stays on casino games, while bingo sites run their own bingo offers with their own terms. The same 10x wagering cap applies to both. Our bonus types hub explains how each family of offer works.
