Minimum deposit meaning: the smallest amount you can pay into a casino account in one go. There are usually two minimums to know: the cashier minimum, which can vary by payment method, and the bonus minimum, which is what a welcome offer needs. At Casumo, for example, the cashier minimum is £10, but the welcome bonus needs £20.
Casinos often have one minimum for the cashier and a higher one for the bonus.
Cashier minimums can differ by payment method: Coral and Ladbrokes publish £5 for Google Pay and Pay by Bank.
Meeting the minimum isn't enough if the payment method is excluded from the offer.
Since 31 October 2025 you're prompted to set a deposit limit before your first deposit.
Credit cards can't be used to gamble in Great Britain, whatever the amount.

Minimum deposit meaning: two different numbers
When a casino says 'minimum deposit', it can mean the smallest payment the cashier will accept, or the smallest payment that earns a promotion. They're often different. The cashier figure is set by the casino and its payment providers; the bonus figure is set in the offer's terms and is part of what makes a deposit a qualifying deposit.
A deposit that meets the cashier minimum but not the bonus minimum goes into your account as normal cash, and you can play with it or withdraw it, but no bonus arrives. That's the most common reason for a bonus not being credited. The rest of our bonus vocabulary is in the casino bonus glossary.
Minimum deposit at our five partner casinos
The table sets out what each partner publishes. Where a figure isn't published, we say so rather than guess: the cashier always shows the live minimum for the method you choose.

Take a £10 debit card deposit. At PlayOJO, £10 meets the offer minimum, so the 80 spins on Big Bass Bonanza are credited: 80 × 10p = £8 of spins with winnings paid as cash. At Coral, a £10 deposit lets you place the £10 of slots bets the offer asks for, after which 100 spins at 10p (£10 of spins) follow. At Casumo, £10 meets the cashier minimum but not the £20 bonus minimum, so no bonus is added.
In each case the £10 is real money at risk. At a typical 96% return to player, £10 of slot bets loses about 40p on average, but a short session can lose all of it. Our £10 deposit bonus page compares what £10 gets at every partner, and £20 deposit bonus does the same for £20.
£1, £3 and £5 minimum deposit casinos
Low-deposit offers draw a lot of searches. None of our partners runs a welcome offer for under £10, though Coral and Ladbrokes accept £5 deposits through some methods for normal play. Pages such as £5 deposit bonus and £1 deposit bonus explain what is and isn't available and why such offers are scarce.
A small minimum doesn't make gambling cheaper overall. It simply lowers the first step, and frequent small deposits can add up faster than one larger one. A deposit limit works on the total, not the size of each payment.
How to check the minimum deposit before you pay
Read the offer's significant terms for the bonus minimum and excluded payment methods.
Open the cashier and choose your payment method to see its own minimum.
Make sure the method isn't excluded: Coral and Ladbrokes exclude PayPal, Skrill, Neteller, Paysafe and prepaid cards from their offers.
Set or confirm your deposit limit when prompted.
Opt in to the offer first if the terms require it, then deposit at least the bonus minimum.
Since 31 October 2025, operators must prompt you to set a financial limit before your first deposit, with setting a limit as the default. The Gambling Commission's announcement on new deposit limit rules (opens in a new tab) explains the change, and our page on the financial limit prompt covers it in full.
Credit cards have been banned for gambling in Great Britain since 14 April 2020, including e-wallets funded by a credit card; see the credit card ban. Your identity and age must also be verified before you deposit or play.

Frequently asked questions
What is the minimum deposit for a casino bonus?
It's whatever the offer's terms say, and it's often higher than the cashier minimum. Among our partners, PlayOJO's welcome offer needs £10, Coral's and Ladbrokes' need £10 of slots bets after depositing, and Casumo's needs £20. The payment method must also qualify, or a deposit of the right size still won't trigger the offer. Check the significant terms before you pay. Our deposit £10 get free spins page compares the £10 offers.
Why is the bonus minimum higher than the cashier minimum?
Because the two are set for different reasons. The cashier minimum reflects payment processing and is often the same for every customer. The bonus minimum is a commercial choice about how much a customer has to commit to get the promotion. Casumo, for instance, accepts £10 for all methods but asks for £20 for its 50% welcome bonus. A deposit between the two is accepted as cash with no bonus. See why do casinos require a deposit for free spins.
Is there a £5 minimum deposit at Coral or Ladbrokes?
Their help centres publish a £5 minimum for Google Pay and Pay by Bank, and say the minimum for other methods is shown in the cashier. A £5 deposit won't trigger either welcome offer, though: both need £10 of slots play after depositing, and PayPal, Skrill, Neteller, Paysafe and prepaid cards are excluded from the offers. The Ladbrokes minimum deposit page sets out the details for that brand.
Does the minimum deposit include fees?
Usually the minimum refers to the amount credited to your account, but each casino words this differently, so check the cashier. The partner help pages we've checked don't list deposit fees. Coral and Ladbrokes state they don't charge withdrawal fees, and Casumo lists a £3 fee on withdrawals under £10. If a fee does reduce your credited amount below the bonus minimum, the offer may not trigger. The payment methods hub covers fees by method.
Can I use a credit card to meet the minimum deposit?
No. Gambling with a credit card has been banned in Great Britain since 14 April 2020, and the ban also covers e-wallets loaded with a credit card. Debit cards, Pay by Bank, Apple Pay and Google Pay are the usual alternatives, though each offer lists its own excluded methods. The Gambling Commission's guide to gambling using a credit card (opens in a new tab) explains the rule, and our debit card casino bonus page covers the most widely accepted option.
Is a lower minimum deposit better?
Not in itself. A low minimum makes it easier to start, but the bonus attached is usually smaller, and several small deposits can add up to more than you planned. What matters is the total you're prepared to lose over a week or month, which is why a deposit limit works on the total rather than the size of each payment. Set that figure first and choose an offer that fits it. Our guide to how to set deposit limits shows how.
