Bet and get bonus

A bet and get bonus gives you a reward, usually free spins, once you have staked a set amount of your own money, such as £10 on slots. The bet comes first and the reward follows. Here is how the qualifying bet works, what the reward is really worth in pounds, and which terms decide whether you get it at all.

Key takeaways

  • A bet and get bonus is triggered by staking your own money, not just by depositing it.
  • Coral (bet £10 on slots, 100 spins at 10p) and Ladbrokes (play £10, up to 500 spins at 10p over 10 days) both work this way; 18+, terms apply.
  • The qualifying bet costs about 40p on average at a 96% RTP; the spins are worth £10 or up to £50 at face value.
  • PayPal, Skrill, Neteller, Paysafe and prepaid card deposits don't qualify for either offer.
  • Since 19 January 2026 a casino can't make you bet on sport to get casino spins.

What a bet and get bonus is

A bet and get bonus is a promotion where the reward is released by turnover rather than by a deposit alone. You put money in, stake a stated amount on stated games, and only then does the casino credit the reward. In the UK casino market the reward is nearly always a batch of free spins with a fixed value per spin, which is why you will often see the same idea written as “bet £10, get 100 free spins”. It sits within the wider family of casino bonus types alongside deposit matches, cashback and loyalty rewards.

The key word is bet. Depositing £10 and leaving it in your balance does nothing. The offer terms want to see that £10 actually staked, and they usually say where: slots only, sometimes a list of named games, and sometimes within a set number of days of opening the account. That staked amount is called the qualifying bet, and almost every complaint about these offers comes back to it: the wrong game, the wrong payment method, or a stake made before opting in.

Two of our five partner casinos run a bet and get bonus right now. Coral asks for £10 on slots and gives 100 spins at 10p. Ladbrokes asks for £10 on slots and gives 50 spins a day for ten days. Both are for new customers aged 18 or over, and terms apply. PlayOJO's welcome offer looks similar on the surface, but it is triggered by a first deposit of £10 or more rather than by a bet, so strictly it belongs to a different group. The rest of this page explains why that difference matters more than it first appears.

How a bet and get bonus works, step by step

The order of events is what catches people out. The casino can only count a stake as qualifying once the offer is attached to your account, so the sequence below is worth following exactly as written in the offer terms.

  1. Open a new account through the offer page and complete age and identity checks. UK rules require this before you can deposit or play, even on demo games.
  2. Opt in to the offer if the terms ask you to. Some offers attach automatically at sign-up; others need a button pressed on the promotions page.
  3. Deposit using a payment method that qualifies. Check the excluded list first: e-wallets and prepaid cards are commonly ruled out.
  4. Stake the qualifying amount on eligible games. For Coral and Ladbrokes that is £10 or more on slots.
  5. Watch for the reward. Coral gives you 48 hours to accept the spins once they are offered; Ladbrokes credits 50 a day that you claim before 23:59.
  6. Play the spins on the listed games before they expire. Both offers give each batch of spins 7 days.
  7. Any winnings from the spins land as cash with no wagering at Coral and Ladbrokes, so you can withdraw them under the normal cashier rules.

Bet and get bonus vs deposit and get: why the trigger matters

On a deposit offer the trigger is a payment into your account. On a bet and get bonus the trigger is a stake on a game. That one difference changes what the offer costs you before the reward even appears, and it changes which money is at risk.

The practical upshot: with a bet and get bonus, plan to treat the £10 qualifying stake as spent. You may win some back, but slots return less than you stake over time, so it's sensible to budget for the stake as a cost of joining rather than counting on getting it back. The closely related spend and get bonus uses different wording for much the same mechanic, whichever stake size the offer names.

What a bet and get bonus is worth in pounds

There are two numbers to work out: what the qualifying bet costs on average, and what the reward is worth on average. Both rely on RTP, the long-run share of stakes a slot pays back, and its mirror image, the house edge. Averages describe thousands of spins; a single session can land far above or far below them.

Bet and get bonus value at our partners (illustrative 96% RTP)
OfferQualifying betAverage cost of the bet at 4% edgeReward at face valueAverage return of the reward at 96% RTP
Coral£10 on slotsAbout 40p100 × 10p = £10About £9.60
Ladbrokes (all 10 days claimed)£10 on slotsAbout 40p500 × 10p = £50About £48
Ladbrokes (only 3 days claimed)£10 on slotsAbout 40p150 × 10p = £15About £14.40

The 96% figure is only an illustration. The spins are played on the games each offer lists, and each game has its own RTP shown in its help screen. A game at 94% would return about £9.40 from Coral's £10 of spins on average; one at 97% about £9.70. Our free spins maths guide walks through the formula in more detail.

Notice how much the Ladbrokes value depends on you. The 500 spins arrive as 50 a day, and each day's batch has to be claimed before 23:59. Miss days and the total shrinks. That design suits people who already expect to log in daily, and it suits nobody who would be logging in only to collect spins.

Why do casinos give more on average than the qualifying bet costs? Because the offer is a one-off cost of winning a new customer. The casino expects to recover it through future play, where the house edge applies with no reward attached.

Bet and get bonus terms to read line by line

Every bet and get offer has the same handful of terms that decide the outcome. These are the ones to find before you deposit, using Coral and Ladbrokes as worked examples.

  • Who can claim: new customers aged 18 or over. Coral and Ladbrokes are both run by LC International Limited, so the terms may stop one person opening new accounts at both. Read the eligibility section before opening a second account.
  • Qualifying amount: £10 or more on slots for both. The terms don't say a single £10 spin is needed, and the UK stake limits mean a single £10 slot spin isn't allowed anyway.
  • Eligible games for the qualifying bet: slots. Table games and live casino won't count towards it.
  • Spin value: 10p each at both casinos. The value is fixed, so you can't raise it.
  • Spin games: each offer lists its own selected games. Check the promotion page for the current list rather than assuming a favourite slot is included.
  • Claim window: Coral gives 48 hours to accept; Ladbrokes needs each daily batch claimed before 23:59.
  • Expiry: 7 days for each batch once credited. Unused spins simply lapse.
  • Wagering on winnings: none at either casino, so spin winnings are paid as withdrawable cash.
  • Offer dates: Coral's runs from 1 October 2026 to 1 February 2027; Ladbrokes' has run since 14 November 2025 until further notice.

Payment methods that stop a bet and get bonus

The single most common reason a bet and get bonus doesn't arrive is the payment method. Both Entain offers exclude several e-wallets and prepaid options, and staking £10 from a deposit made with one of them won't qualify, however carefully the rest of the steps are followed.

In practice a standard UK debit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or Pay by Bank is where most people start, but always check the current exclusions on the offer page. The explainer on how payment exclusions work explains why casinos rule certain methods out. Credit cards can't be used at all: that has been banned for gambling in Great Britain since 14 April 2020.

UK rules on bet and get bonuses in 2026

Three sets of rules shape how a bet and get bonus can be built in Great Britain, and two of them changed on 19 January 2026.

The mixed-product ban

From 19 January 2026, a single incentive can't combine different gambling products. A casino can no longer say “bet £10 on football, get 50 casino spins”, which used to be a common cross-sell. The Gambling Commission's announcement on safer promotions (opens in a new tab) gives the background, and our page on the mixed-product promotion ban sets out what is still allowed. For a bet and get bonus, it means the qualifying bet and the reward now have to sit in the same product: slots stake, slots spins.

The 10x wagering cap

Also from 19 January 2026, any wagering attached to a bonus can't exceed 10 times the bonus, under social responsibility code 5.1.1 (opens in a new tab). Coral's and Ladbrokes' spin winnings carry no wagering at all, so the cap doesn't bite here, but it matters if you compare a bet and get offer with a deposit match. See the 10x wagering cap page for worked examples.

Stake limits and clear terms

Online slot stakes are capped at £5 a spin for players aged 25 and over (since 9 April 2025) and £2 for 18 to 24-year-olds (since 21 May 2025). A £10 qualifying bet therefore always takes several spins. Separately, advertising rules say the significant conditions of an offer, such as the qualifying bet, eligible games and excluded payment methods, must be shown with the headline. The ASA's guidance on free bets and bonuses (opens in a new tab) explains why an offer can't be called free when you must risk your own money to qualify without saying so alongside.

Bet and get free spins with no wagering

The best feature of the current UK bet and get offers is that the reward has no wagering. With Coral and Ladbrokes, whatever the spins win is paid as cash. That is a real difference from older offers where spin winnings became bonus funds that had to be played through many times.

To see why that matters, imagine a hypothetical version of the Coral offer where £9.60 of spin winnings carried 10x wagering. You would need £96 of further stakes, which at a 4% house edge costs about £3.84 on average, cutting the expected value to roughly £5.76 and adding hours of play. With no wagering free spins you skip that stage entirely. The Gambling Commission's consumer page on free offers and bonuses (opens in a new tab) also reminds players that they can walk away at any time and keep what is left of their deposit.

No wagering does not mean no rules. The spins still expire, still run on listed games, and still have a fixed 10p value. Withdrawals of spin winnings follow the cashier's normal rules on verification and method.

Is a bet and get bonus worth it?

For someone who already planned to play £10 of slots at a UK casino, a bet and get bonus adds value at little extra cost. For anyone who would only be playing to collect the spins, the answer is less clear: you are committing real money to a game that pays back less than you stake over time.

Advantages

  • The reward is clearly defined: a fixed number of 10p spins.
  • No wagering on spin winnings at Coral or Ladbrokes.
  • Low qualifying stake of £10.
  • Simple maths: spins × 10p tells you the face value.

Drawbacks

  • Your own £10 is played first, and it can all be lost.
  • Several common payment methods don't qualify.
  • Spins only work on the casino's listed games.
  • Ladbrokes' full value relies on claiming 10 days in a row.

Mistakes that cost people their bet and get reward

Most missing rewards come down to a few repeat mistakes, all of which can be avoided by reading the significant terms before the first deposit.

  1. Depositing with PayPal, Skrill, Neteller or a prepaid card, then staking £10 that can't qualify.
  2. Playing roulette or blackjack with the first £10 instead of slots.
  3. Placing the qualifying stake before the offer was attached to the account.
  4. Letting Coral's 48-hour acceptance window or a Ladbrokes daily claim deadline pass.
  5. Opening the spins on a game that isn't on the selected list.
  6. Assuming an existing account at a sister brand doesn't matter.

If something does go wrong, contact support first with your screenshot of the terms. Our guide to common bonus mistakes covers what to ask.

Keeping a bet and get bonus in proportion

A bet and get bonus is designed to get you playing, so it helps to set limits before you start. Since 31 October 2025, UK casinos must prompt you to set a financial limit before your first deposit; use it. A deposit limit equal to the qualifying stake, say £10 or £20, keeps the offer to exactly what it says on the tin. Our guide to setting deposit limits shows where the settings live.

Where to find a bet and get bonus at our partners

Of our five partners, Coral and Ladbrokes run genuine bet and get offers. Coral: 18+, new players; deposit (certain types excluded) and bet £10 or more on slots to get 100 free spins at 10p on selected games, accepted within 48 hours and valid 7 days, with no wagering on winnings; the offer runs 1 October 2026 to 1 February 2027. Read the full Coral casino bonus page.

Ladbrokes: 18+, new customers; deposit and spend £10 or more on slots to get 50 free spins a day for the first 10 days (up to 500), 10p each on selected games, claimed before 23:59 each day and valid 7 days, no wagering. PayPal, Paysafe, Neteller, Skrill, Moneybookers and prepaid card deposits don't qualify. See the Ladbrokes casino bonus page.

PlayOJO is the alternative if you'd rather the reward didn't depend on a bet: 18+, new UK customers excluding Northern Ireland, first deposit of £10 or more for 80 free spins on Big Bass Bonanza at 10p, with no wagering on winnings. It can't be combined with other offers. Our PlayOJO casino bonus page has the full terms. All three were last checked on 5 October 2026; terms can change, so read the current version before you deposit.

Frequently asked questions

What does bet and get mean at a casino?

It means you receive a reward only after staking a set amount of your own money on eligible games. At UK casinos the stake is usually £10 on slots and the reward is a fixed number of free spins, often at 10p each. The deposit alone is not enough; the money has to be played. Coral and Ladbrokes both use this model for new customers aged 18 or over, with terms applying. Our qualifying bet glossary entry explains exactly which stakes count and which don't.

Is a bet and get bonus the same as a deposit bonus?

No, the trigger is different. A deposit bonus is released by paying money in, while a bet and get bonus is released by staking money on a game. That means your own money is at risk before the reward appears. PlayOJO's 80 spins are a deposit offer; Coral's 100 spins need £10 staked on slots. The first deposit bonus page covers the deposit route.

Can I place my qualifying bet on roulette or blackjack?

Not for the current UK partner offers. Both partner offers require the £10 to be staked on slots, so table games and live casino stakes won't count towards it. Other casinos may name different games, so always read which ones qualify before staking. Table games often contribute nothing to bonuses for similar reasons. See which games are excluded from bonuses for the general pattern.

Do I have to bet £10 in one go?

No, and on slots you couldn't. UK online slot stakes are capped at £5 a spin for players aged 25 and over and £2 for those aged 18 to 24, so a £10 qualifying amount always builds up over several spins. The Coral and Ladbrokes terms ask for £10 or more on slots; check the offer page for any time limit on reaching it. Our online slot stake limits page explains how the caps apply, including to stakes placed while a bonus is active.

Why didn't my bet and get free spins arrive?

The usual reason is an excluded payment method, followed by staking on the wrong games or before opting in. Both brands rule out PayPal, Skrill, Neteller, Paysafe and prepaid card deposits. Check your transaction history, then contact support with the date you signed up and a copy of the terms you saw. Our pages on why free spins aren't showing lists what to include.

Is there wagering on bet and get free spins winnings?

Not on the two current UK partner offers. The two offers both say there is no wagering on free spin winnings, so what the spins win is paid as cash you can withdraw. Older or offshore offers sometimes converted spin wins into bonus funds with high playthrough, which is no longer allowed above 10x at UK-licensed casinos since 19 January 2026. Our free spins wagering explained page shows how wagering would change the value if it did apply.

How much is a bet £10 get 100 free spins offer worth?

At face value it's £10, because 100 spins at 10p each equals £10 of spins. At a 96% RTP those spins would return about £9.60 on average, while the £10 qualifying bet costs about 40p on average at the same edge. Real results vary widely from session to session. Check the RTP of the listed games in their help screens. Our page on the average win from 100 free spins goes further.

Can I get a bet and get bonus on sports and use it at the casino?

Not any more at UK-licensed operators. Since 19 January 2026 the Gambling Commission has banned incentives that mix gambling products, so a promotion can't ask you to bet on football and reward you with casino spins. Each product now has its own separate offer. If you're choosing between a sports and casino welcome offer at a brand that runs both, see our page on the mixed-product promotion ban.

Can I claim bet and get offers at both Coral and Ladbrokes?

Possibly not. Both brands are run by LC International Limited, part of Entain, and their terms may treat a person as an existing customer if they hold an account with a sister brand. Read the eligibility section of each offer before opening a second account, because claiming against the terms can lead to the reward being withdrawn. Our page on whether Coral and Ladbrokes share accounts explains the overlap.

Does a bet and get bonus make gambling cheaper?

No. The reward is a one-off, and it doesn't change the odds of any game you play afterwards. Slots still return less than they take over time, so any play beyond the qualifying bet carries the normal house edge with nothing attached. Treat the spins as a small extra on money you had already decided to spend on entertainment. Our page is gambling with a bonus safer looks at this in more depth.
