A bonus wheel is a casino promotion where you spin an on-screen wheel and land one prize from a fixed list, such as a handful of spins, a small bonus or a cash amount. A spin is worth the average of those prizes weighted by their real odds, which is usually far less than the biggest segment suggests.
A bonus wheel pays one prize from a list; the value of a spin is the odds-weighted average, not the top prize.
The size of a segment on screen doesn't have to match its chance of landing, so look for published odds in the terms.
Any bonus funds won must carry wagering of no more than 10x since 19 January 2026.
None of our five partners runs a bonus wheel as its welcome offer; their offers pay a fixed, stated number of spins instead. 18+, terms apply.

What a bonus wheel is and where UK casinos use one
A bonus wheel is a promotional game run by the casino rather than by a slot studio. You get a spin, the wheel stops on a segment, and the segment decides your reward. It sits in the family of casino bonus types that are aimed mostly at people who already have an account, alongside free spins for existing customers, reload offers and loyalty schemes.
In the UK you tend to meet a bonus wheel in one of three forms. Some are daily, free-to-play wheels you can spin once a day without staking anything. Others hand you a spin only after you meet a condition, such as betting £10 on slots during a promotion week. A third kind is tied to a points or level scheme, where reaching a new level gives you a spin. The mechanics look the same on screen, but the cost of getting the spin is very different.

Our separate guide on how bonus wheels work covers the screens and buttons. This page is about value: what a spin on a bonus wheel is really worth in pounds, and which lines in the terms change that figure.
Is there a bonus wheel welcome offer for UK players?
Not among our partners. None of the five casinos we work with (Coral, Ladbrokes, PlayOJO, Casumo and 10bet) uses a bonus wheel as its welcome offer. Their sign-up deals pay a fixed, stated reward: a set number of 10p spins after a qualifying bet or deposit, or a percentage match on the first deposit. That certainty is worth something, because you know the value before you start.
Wheels do turn up for existing customers. The App Store listing for the Ladbrokes casino app describes free-to-play games that include a daily prize wheel, and Coral's app listing mentions free-to-play games with real-money prizes plus reward features such as Smart Rewards and Rewards Grabber. What is running, who qualifies and what the prizes are can change week to week, so check the promotions page or the app's rewards area rather than relying on any list, including ours. See the Ladbrokes app bonus page for what that app offers new customers.
How a bonus wheel works, step by step
The order of events is much the same at every UK casino, whether the wheel is daily or tied to a bet.
Log in to a verified account. UK rules require your age and identity to be checked before you gamble, and that includes promotional games.
Opt in if the promotion asks you to. Commission guidance says players should opt into promotions rather than be enrolled automatically.
Meet the trigger, if there is one: a daily visit, a qualifying slots bet, or a new level reached.
Spin the wheel. The result is decided by the casino's random number system, not by when you press the button.
Read the prize message. It should say what you won, the spin value or bonus amount, any wagering and the deadline.
Use the prize before it expires, on the games the prize names, and within any stake limit.
Why segment size on a bonus wheel isn't the same as the odds
A physical fairground wheel with eight equal slices gives each slice a one-in-eight chance. A digital bonus wheel doesn't have to. The animation is a picture of the result, and the result itself comes from a random draw that can weight each prize differently. A big, bright £100 slice may land far less often than its width suggests.
That isn't a trick in itself, but it's a reason to read the significant terms. The Gambling Commission's transparency guidance (opens in a new tab) says the key conditions of a promotion must be clear and prominent, and full terms must be within one click of the bonus area. Where a casino lists the odds or the number of each prize available, use them. Where it doesn't, treat the top prize as rare.
This wheel is an example we built to show the maths. It is not any casino's real wheel, and real prize lists and odds vary.
Working out what a bonus wheel spin is worth
The face value of the example wheel is £1.55 a spin, but face value overstates it. Spins are worth their stake times the game's RTP on average, and bonus money carries a wagering cost. Adjusting each prize gives a truer expected value.
Spin prizes: 95p of face value in spins, at a 96% RTP, return about 91p on average.
£1 bonus at 10x: £10 of wagering at a 4% house edge costs about 40p, so it's worth roughly 60p. At a 10% chance, that adds 6p.
£5 bonus at 10x: £50 of wagering costs about £2 on average, leaving roughly £3. At 5%, that adds 15p.
£25 cash: no conditions, so it keeps its full 25p contribution.
Add those up and one spin on this wheel is worth about £1.37 on average. Notice how little the headline £25 prize adds: 25p. Most of the value comes from the dull, frequent segments. If the same wheel needed a £10 slots bet to earn the spin, that bet costs about 40p on average at a 4% house edge, so the net value falls to roughly 97p. None of this is a forecast for one spin; any single result can be well above or below the average.
For the wider method, including how to treat caps and deadlines, see our guide to the expected value of a casino bonus and the way wagering requirements are calculated.
Bonus wheel terms to read before you spin
Wheel promotions are short, so the terms are usually short too. These are the lines that change what a spin is worth.
Eligibility: some wheels are only for customers who have deposited recently, or only for app users.
Qualifying bet: the minimum stake, which games count and the deadline. Payment exclusions can also apply, as with many welcome offers.
Spin limit: usually one spin a day or one per qualifying bet.
Prize format: spins (game and stake per spin), bonus funds (wagering and expiry) or cash.
Expiry: both the wheel spin and the prize can lapse; spin prizes often expire within a day or a week.
Max win: spin or bonus prizes may cap what you can withdraw.
Odds: whether the casino states the chance of each prize.
UK rules that apply to a bonus wheel
A bonus wheel is an incentive, so the Gambling Commission's rules on rewards and bonuses apply in full. Since 19 January 2026, social responsibility code 5.1.1 caps wagering on bonus funds at 10 times and bans incentives that mix gambling products. The code text on rewards and bonuses (opens in a new tab) also requires incentive terms to be clear and fair. Our pages on the 10x wagering cap and the mixed-product promotion ban explain both in detail.

Under Commission guidance on the right to vary a promotion, a casino shouldn't change or withdraw a promotion for someone who has already opted in, except to prevent fraud or similar unlawful behaviour. Any prize message should also make clear whether you are holding cash or bonus funds.
Bonus wheels inside slots are a different thing
Many slots have their own bonus wheel feature, and it's easy to confuse with a casino promotion. A slot's wheel is part of the game's maths: you reach it through normal paid spins, and whatever it pays is already counted in the game's RTP. A casino's bonus wheel sits outside the games and is paid for by the casino's marketing budget.

Bonus wheel vs a fixed free spins offer
The trade-off is certainty against variety. A fixed offer tells you exactly what you get; a wheel gives you a spread of outcomes with a lower typical result.

A daily wheel can add up over a month, but only if you'd log in anyway. Spinning a wheel every day because it's there is the habit these promotions are designed to build. Our page on daily free spins looks at the same question for daily spin drops.
Daily wheels, habits and staying in control
A free-to-play wheel costs nothing to spin, but it brings you back to a gambling site every day, and that's the point of it from the casino's side. If you notice that a daily spin regularly turns into paid play you hadn't planned, that's worth acting on. Gambling is entertainment that costs money, and losses are the likely result over time because of the house edge.
Set a deposit limit before you claim anything; our guide on how to set deposit limits shows where to find it.
Turn off promotional emails and texts if the reminders pull you in; marketing needs your opt-in per channel.

Where to find a bonus wheel, and the closest UK offers
Because no partner uses a bonus wheel as a welcome offer, the honest choice is between fixed offers whose value you can see in advance. All are for new customers aged 18+, and terms apply.
Coral Casino: bet £10 on slots (deposit types such as PayPal, Skrill, Neteller, Paysafe, prepaid cards and certain debit cards don't qualify) and get 100 spins at 10p on selected games, worth £10. Accept within 48 hours; spins last 7 days; no wagering on spin winnings. The offer runs to 1 February 2027. See the Coral casino bonus.
Ladbrokes Casino: play £10 on slots and get 50 spins a day for 10 days, up to 500 spins at 10p (up to £50 of spins). Claim each day's spins by 23:59; each set lasts 7 days; no wagering. PayPal, prepaid cards, Paysafe, Neteller, Skrill and Moneybookers deposits don't qualify. The daily drip is the nearest thing to a daily wheel, without the randomness. See the Ladbrokes casino bonus.
PlayOJO: 80 spins at 10p on Big Bass Bonanza (£8 of spins) on a first deposit of at least £10, with winnings paid as cash and no wagering. Not available in Northern Ireland and only via the designated offer link. See the PlayOJO casino bonus.
Coral and Ladbrokes are both run by LC International Limited, so check the terms before trying to join both. Once you're a customer, wheels and other rewards may appear in each casino's promotions area; read the odds and prize terms before spinning, and compare the average value with a fixed spins offer.
None of these welcome offers is a bonus wheel: each pays a fixed, stated reward after a qualifying deposit or bet. 18+, new customers only, terms apply.
Coral and Ladbrokes are both run by LC International Limited (Entain). If you already hold an account with one Entain brand, you may not be able to open a new account with another; check the terms before signing up.

Frequently asked questions
What is a bonus wheel at an online casino?
A bonus wheel is a promotional spin-to-win game run by the casino, where one spin lands a prize from a fixed list. Prizes are usually small: a few spins at 10p, a little bonus money, occasionally cash. Some wheels are free to spin daily, others need a qualifying bet, and some are tied to a loyalty level. It's different from the wheel feature inside a slot, which is part of that game's RTP. See our list of casino bonus types for how wheels compare with other promotions.
Are bonus wheel spins really free?
Only some are, and the condition matters. A daily free-to-play wheel needs no stake, but you must hold a verified account and often must have deposited at some point. A bet-triggered wheel gives a spin only after you stake a set amount, such as £10 on slots, and that bet carries the usual house edge. The ASA's guidance says gambling ads shouldn't call an offer free if you must risk your own money to qualify. Our page are free spins really free? covers the same question for spins.
Can you win real money on a bonus wheel?
Yes, if the wheel includes cash prizes or prizes that turn into cash. A cash segment pays withdrawable money straight away. Spin prizes pay winnings as cash when they carry no wagering, or as bonus funds when they do. Bonus-money prizes must be wagered, at no more than 10x since 19 January 2026, before you can withdraw. Max-win caps may also limit what you can take out. Read the prize message carefully, and see can you withdraw free spins winnings? for the detail.
Are bonus wheels rigged, or is every segment equally likely?
Segments don't have to be equally likely, but that isn't the same as rigged. A digital wheel's result comes from a random draw that can give each prize its own chance, so a wide slice for a large prize may land rarely. A licensed casino must run promotions on clear, fair terms, so check whether the odds are published. If the terms are vague about prizes or let the casino decide outcomes at its discretion, that's a warning sign. Our guide on how to spot unfair bonus terms helps.
Do bonus wheel prizes have wagering requirements?
It depends on the prize. Cash prizes have none. Spin prizes may pay their winnings as cash with no wagering, or as bonus funds that need wagering. Bonus-money prizes nearly always carry wagering, and since 19 January 2026 that can't exceed 10 times the bonus. A £5 bonus at 10x needs £50 of play, which at a 4% house edge costs about £2 on average. Our wagering calculator runs the numbers for any prize you land.
How often can I spin a daily prize wheel?
Usually once per day per account, with the day resetting at a time stated in the terms, often midnight UK time. Some wheels give extra spins for qualifying bets, and missed days normally can't be caught up later. The prizes you land may also have their own deadlines, sometimes as short as 24 hours. If daily spins start to feel like an obligation, that's a good time to set limits or step back; our safer gambling page lists the tools and free support available.
Do any big UK casinos offer a bonus wheel as a welcome bonus?
None of our five partners does. Coral, Ladbrokes, PlayOJO, Casumo and 10bet all use fixed welcome offers, such as Coral's 100 spins at 10p after a £10 slots bet. Wheels are more often an existing-customer feature: the Ladbrokes casino app's store listing mentions a daily prize wheel among its free-to-play games, for example. Promotions change often, so check each casino's promotions page. Our welcome bonus page compares the sign-up offers that are available now.
Is a bonus wheel better than a normal free spins offer?
Usually not on value, though it can be fun. A fixed offer tells you the reward before you start: Coral's 100 spins at 10p are worth £10 of play. A wheel's odds-weighted value is often a pound or two per spin, and its biggest prize is usually rare. Where a wheel is free to spin and you were visiting anyway, any prize is a small extra. Compare like with like using our guide to free spins maths.
Do I need to verify my account before spinning a bonus wheel?
Yes. UK rules require casinos to verify your age and identity before you gamble, and that includes free-to-play games and promotions. In practice you'll need a fully registered, checked account before any wheel appears. Some casinos also ask for documents later, for example at your first withdrawal, if their automatic checks weren't enough. Our guide on how to verify your casino account explains what's asked for and why.
Can I stop getting bonus wheel promotions?
Yes. Since 1 May 2025, UK casinos must ask for your consent to direct marketing separately for each product and each channel, such as casino by email or by text. You can change those settings in your account or unsubscribe from any message. You can also opt out of bonuses altogether at many casinos, or use a time-out or self-exclusion if you want a complete break. See how to stop bonus emails for the steps.
