Visa casino bonus

A Visa casino bonus is simply a welcome offer you trigger with a Visa debit card, and all five of our partner casinos accept Visa debit as a deposit method. None of them names Visa in its list of excluded payments, but Coral rules out "certain debit cards" without saying which, and Visa credit cards can't be used to gamble in Great Britain at all.

Key takeaways

  • Visa debit is accepted at Coral, Ladbrokes, PlayOJO, Casumo and 10bet, and none of their welcome offers names Visa as an excluded method.
  • Visa credit cards are banned for gambling in Great Britain since 14 April 2020, so only the debit version can trigger a bonus.
  • Coral excludes "certain debit cards" without naming them: read the full terms before you deposit.
  • Coral and Ladbrokes publish a Visa Fast Funds payout route; Casumo and 10bet quote up to 2 days for cards.
  • 18+ and full terms apply to every offer on this page; the house edge still applies while you play.

Does a Visa casino bonus work at UK casinos?

Yes. A Visa debit card is the most straightforward way to trigger a UK welcome offer, because card deposits sit outside the exclusion lists that knock out e-wallets and prepaid products. There is no separate "Visa bonus": the casino's normal welcome bonus applies, and Visa is just the route your qualifying deposit takes.

That makes this page different from guides to PayPal casino bonuses or Skrill and Neteller bonuses, where the honest answer is often "not at this casino". With Visa the question is narrower: is your card debit rather than credit, and does the casino carve out any particular kind of debit card? The table sums up what our partners publish.

10betYes (third-party listing)100% bonus up to £25No (only Skrill and Neteller)

Everything here is about debit cards. If the card in your wallet says "credit", it can't be used at a UK-licensed casino and won't trigger anything.

Visa debit vs Visa credit for a casino bonus

The Gambling Commission's credit card ban took effect on 14 April 2020. LCCP condition 6.1.2 (opens in a new tab) stops licensed operators accepting credit card payments for gambling, including those routed through a money service business. The Commission also expects casinos taking e-wallet deposits to make sure the wallet wasn't loaded from a credit card.

Debit cards are treated differently by statute. Under section 81 of the Gambling Act 2005 (opens in a new tab), a debit card payment is one taken from a bank account with a card that is not a credit-token under the Consumer Credit Act 1974, and a full, non-post-dated debit card payment is not counted as "credit". That legal line is why Visa debit works for a casino bonus and Visa credit does not.

In practice the cashier usually declines a credit card at the first attempt. If you're unsure which card you hold, the word "Debit" normally appears on the front, and your banking app will show whether it's linked to a current account. There's more on the background in can I use a credit card at a casino?

Coral's "certain debit cards" clause and other Visa catches

Coral's 100 free spins offer lists Neteller, PayPal, Paysafe, Skrill, prepaid cards and "certain debit cards" as deposit types that don't qualify. The offer terms we checked don't say which debit cards are meant. We won't guess; the safe reading is that a Visa debit linked to a UK current account is the ordinary case, and anything unusual about your card (prepaid-style, issued by a non-bank wallet, or registered abroad) is worth checking with Coral's help centre before you deposit.

Ladbrokes lists prepaid cards, PayPal, Paysafe, Neteller, Skrill and Moneybookers. A prepaid card can carry the Visa logo, so a prepaid Visa would still fall foul of both Coral's and Ladbrokes' rules even though a normal Visa debit wouldn't. Our prepaid card bonus guide covers that difference in detail.

Excluded methods are a common source of complaints. The Advertising Standards Authority ruled against William Hill on 31 July 2024 because an excluded payment method sat in small print among the full terms rather than being made prominent. That's one reason it pays to read the significant terms box as well as the headline. Our explainer on how payment exclusions work goes clause by clause.

Other Visa catches that aren't about the card

  • Mixing methods: UK accounts at Coral and Ladbrokes can have up to 3 active payment methods per rolling 30 days in the UK, so adding a Visa after trying an excluded wallet can use up one of those slots.
  • The bet, not just the deposit: Coral and Ladbrokes need £10 staked on slots, so a £10 Visa deposit sitting unused triggers nothing.
  • Order of deposits: PlayOJO, Casumo and 10bet tie their offers to the first deposit, so a first deposit by a different method can mean the offer is gone.

How to claim a Visa casino bonus step by step

The steps are much the same at every partner. The order matters more than people expect, particularly the opt-in and the qualifying bet.

  1. Check the card says Debit and is linked to a UK current account in your name.
  2. Read the offer's full terms, including the excluded payment list, minimum deposit, eligible games and expiry.
  3. Register through the offer page, complete age and identity checks and set a deposit limit when the cashier prompts you (required before a first deposit since 31 October 2025).
  4. Opt in or choose the casino welcome offer if the terms ask you to (Casumo requires an opt-in; 10bet asks you to pick the casino bonus at sign-up).
  5. Deposit with Visa debit, at least £10 (£20 for Casumo's bonus).
  6. For Coral and Ladbrokes, stake £10 or more on slots; for PlayOJO, the spins follow the qualifying first deposit.
  7. Accept the spins or bonus in the time allowed: 48 hours at Coral, before 23:59 each day at Ladbrokes.

What a Visa casino bonus is worth in pounds

Paying by Visa doesn't change a bonus's value; the offer terms do. Here is what each partner's offer works out to on a typical Visa debit deposit, using long-run averages. Any one session can land far above or below these figures, and losses are always possible.

Worked values for a Visa debit deposit
OfferVisa depositWhat you getAverage outcomeWagering
Coral£10, staked on slots100 spins × 10p = £10 of spinsAbout £9.60 back at 96% RTPNone on spin winnings
Ladbrokes£10, staked on slotsUp to 500 spins × 10p = up to £50 over 10 daysAbout £48 back at 96% RTP if all claimedNone
PlayOJO£10 first deposit80 spins × 10p = £8 on Big Bass BonanzaAbout £7.74 at its 96.71% RTPNone; cash winnings
Casumo£50 first deposit£25 bonus (50%)£250 of wagering costs about £10 at a 4% edge10x in 7 days
10bet£25 first deposit£25 bonus (100%)£250 of wagering costs about £10 at a 4% edge10x on slots in 3 days

Two points stand out. First, the qualifying £10 slots bet at Coral and Ladbrokes is real money at risk: at a 4% house edge it costs about 40p on average, but a single session can lose all of it. Second, deposit-match bonuses look bigger but carry wagering requirements capped at 10x by the UK 10x wagering cap since 19 January 2026. Our expected value guide shows the working in more depth.

Withdrawing to Visa after claiming a bonus

Cards are usually closed-loop: Coral and Ladbrokes say winnings go back to the method you deposited with where possible. Both publish a Visa Fast Funds route. Ladbrokes' Visa Fast Funds page (opens in a new tab) says approval typically takes a couple of hours, then the money typically reaches your bank within up to 4 hours, with payouts over £2,000 taking longer.

CasumoCards up to 2 days after approval (approval within 3 days)£3 below £10; none at £10+
10betDebit cards up to 2 business daysNot published

Spin winnings from Coral, Ladbrokes and PlayOJO are paid without wagering, so they can be withdrawn once credited. Casumo and 10bet bonus money must be wagered first, though CMA undertakings mean your own deposit should stay withdrawable during bonus play; withdrawing it normally forfeits the bonus. See can I withdraw my deposit with a bonus active? and our payout time entry.

Visa deposit limits, minimums and caps

At Coral and Ladbrokes a single UK deposit is capped at £2,000, and both help centres say the general minimum is shown in the cashier. Casumo's homepage says £10 is the minimum for all methods, though its welcome bonus needs £20. 10bet doesn't publish a minimum in its help centre, and PlayOJO's offer needs £10.

These are casino limits, not your limits. Since 31 October 2025, operators must prompt you to set a deposit limit before your first deposit, and setting one is the default. A limit that matches the amount you planned for the offer (say £10 or £20 a week) keeps the bonus in proportion. Our guide to setting deposit limits walks through it.

Visa debit gambling blocks and safer gambling

Most big UK banks now let you block gambling payments on a debit card, and the Commission keeps a list of them on its page about blocking gambling transactions (opens in a new tab). HSBC's gambling restriction (opens in a new tab) covers in-store and online debit card payments, contactless and digital wallets, and HSBC says payments are still declined for 3 days after you turn it off.

A block is a positive tool rather than a hurdle: it stops a Visa deposit happening on impulse. If you've switched one on, don't look for a way round it to claim an offer. Other tools that work alongside it include GAMSTOP, casino time-outs and reality checks. Banks with their own pages include Monzo and Starling.

Why most UK debit cards are Visa now

If your card used to say Maestro or Switch, it has probably been replaced by Visa debit. First Direct and HSBC moved from Maestro to Visa Debit in January 2009, and the RBS Group (RBS, NatWest, Coutts and Ulster Bank) began the same switch in September 2009, a process that took around two years. Other banks moved to Debit Mastercard instead; our Mastercard casino bonus and Maestro casino bonus pages cover those cards.

For a bonus, Visa debit and Debit Mastercard behave the same way at our partners: neither is named as an excluded method. If you'd rather keep gambling off your card entirely, our debit card casino bonus page compares cards with Apple Pay and other options.

Where to use a Visa casino bonus

No casino we work with runs a Visa-specific promotion, so the honest choice is the normal welcome offer that a Visa debit deposit qualifies for. Coral is listed first because its 100 free spins come after a single £10 slots bet, but remember its "certain debit cards" exclusion. Ladbrokes spreads up to 500 spins over 10 days, and PlayOJO gives 80 spins on a first deposit with no payment exclusions in the terms we hold.

  • Coral: 18+, new players, offer runs 1 October 2026 to 1 February 2027. Deposit (certain types excluded) and bet £10+ on slots for 100 free spins at 10p on selected games; accept within 48 hours, use within 7 days, no wagering on winnings.
  • Ladbrokes: 18+, new customers. Deposit and spend £10+ on slots for 50 free spins a day for 10 days (max 500) at 10p on selected games; claim before 23:59 each day, valid 7 days, no wagering.
  • PlayOJO: 18+, new UK customers (not Northern Ireland), £10 minimum first deposit for 80 free spins on Big Bass Bonanza at 10p; no wagering, winnings paid in cash; only via the designated offer link.

Frequently asked questions

Can I get a casino bonus with a Visa debit card?

Yes, a Visa debit card is accepted at all five of our partner casinos, and none of them names Visa in its welcome offer's excluded payment list. You still need to meet the normal terms: a £10 slots bet at Coral or Ladbrokes, a £10 first deposit at PlayOJO, or £20 at Casumo. Coral does exclude "certain debit cards" without listing them, so check its full terms first. Our qualifying deposit entry explains what counts towards an offer.

Can I use a Visa credit card for a casino bonus?

No, Visa credit cards can't be used to gamble with any British-licensed operator since 14 April 2020. The Gambling Commission's rule covers direct card deposits and credit cards routed through payment services, and casinos are expected to check that e-wallets weren't topped up by credit card. A credit card deposit will normally be declined at the cashier, so it can't trigger a bonus either. The credit card ban page has the full timeline and wording.

Which debit cards does Coral exclude from its free spins offer?

Coral's terms say "certain debit cards" don't qualify but, in the version we checked, they don't name which ones. Prepaid cards are listed separately, so a prepaid Visa is excluded whatever else applies. If your Visa debit is a standard card from a UK bank, it's the ordinary case, but the only certain answer comes from Coral's full terms or help centre. Our Coral payment methods page collects what Coral publishes about each method.

How fast are Visa withdrawals after a casino bonus?

It depends on the casino's own approval time plus the card network's transfer time. Coral and Ladbrokes publish a Visa Fast Funds route: approval typically takes a couple of hours, then the money typically arrives within up to 4 hours, though payouts above £2,000 take longer. Casumo quotes up to 2 days for cards after approval, and 10bet up to 2 business days. These are the casinos' published times, not a legal maximum; see how long withdrawals take after a bonus.

Is a prepaid Visa card the same as Visa debit for a bonus?

No, a prepaid Visa is treated as a prepaid card, and both Coral and Ladbrokes exclude prepaid cards from their welcome offers. The Visa logo on the front doesn't change that. A Visa debit is linked to your bank account; a prepaid card is loaded in advance. If you plan to use one, read can I use a prepaid card for a bonus? and check the casino's full terms, because exclusion lists differ between operators.

Does paying by Visa make a casino bonus better value?

No, the payment method doesn't change the bonus itself or the odds of the games you play with it. A Coral offer is 100 spins at 10p whichever qualifying method you use, worth about £9.60 back on average at 96% RTP. What Visa changes is whether you qualify at all, how quickly you can withdraw, and which bank tools you can use to control spending. Our guide on whether a casino bonus is worth it covers the value side.

Can I use Visa through Apple Pay or Google Pay to claim a bonus?

Possibly, but the casino judges the wallet, not the card behind it. Coral and Ladbrokes list Apple Pay and Google Pay as deposit methods, and neither wallet appears on their exclusion lists in the terms we hold. Other casinos may treat mobile wallets differently, and the credit card ban still applies to any credit card stored in a wallet. See our Apple Pay casino bonus and Google Pay casino bonus pages before relying on a wallet.

Why was my Visa deposit declined at a casino?

The most common reasons are a bank gambling block, a credit rather than debit card, or a casino limit such as Coral's and Ladbrokes' £2,000 per-deposit cap or three active payment methods in 30 days. Your bank may also flag a first gambling payment for security. Check your banking app for a block, confirm the card is debit, and ask the casino's support if the reason isn't clear. A declined deposit can't trigger an offer; why is my account restricted? covers account-side causes.

Do I have to withdraw to the same Visa card I deposited with?

Usually yes, where the method allows withdrawals. Coral and Ladbrokes say they work on a closed-loop basis, sending winnings back to the deposit method where possible, and PlayOJO says the same on its help page. That policy helps prevent fraud and money laundering. If your card has expired or been replaced, the casino will ask you to add another method. Our withdrawal rules page explains your rights when you ask to be paid.

Can I block Visa gambling payments after claiming a bonus?

Yes, and you can do it at any time. Most large UK banks offer a gambling block on debit cards; HSBC's covers online and in-store card payments, contactless and digital wallets, and keeps declining gambling payments for 3 days after you switch it off. Any bonus already in your casino account stays subject to its terms, but you won't be able to top up by card. Pair it with GAMSTOP if you want to stop gambling online completely.

Is there a Visa casino bonus code?

No, none of our partners needs a promo code for its welcome offer, and none runs a Visa-only promotion. You claim the standard offer by registering through the offer page and depositing with a qualifying method such as Visa debit. Be wary of sites promising special Visa codes, as they often point to unlicensed casinos. Our bonus codes page lists how each partner's offer is triggered without a code.
