App only bonus

An app only bonus is a casino offer you can claim only through the operator's iOS or Android app, not its website. None of our five partners' welcome offers is app-only according to its key terms, and all five have UK apps. Here is how app-exclusive offers usually work, what to check before claiming one, and what changes when you play a bonus on your phone.

Key takeaways

  • An app only bonus is limited to sign-ups or play inside a casino's mobile app.
  • None of our partners' welcome offers is restricted to the app in its key terms; each one's terms are the same wherever you claim.
  • All five partners have iOS and Android apps rated 18+; Coral and Ladbrokes have standalone casino apps.
  • UK rules are identical on app and website: age checks before play, 10x wagering cap, £5 and £2 slot stake limits.
  • Significant terms must be visible on the app's sign-up screens, with full terms one click away. 18+, terms apply.

What an app only bonus is

An app only bonus is a promotion that's limited to people who sign up for, deposit through or play in a casino's mobile app. The website might carry a different offer, or none. Some app only bonuses are welcome offers for new customers; others are in-app rewards for existing ones, such as daily prize games or app-exclusive spins.

It's a narrower idea than a mobile casino bonus, which usually just means any offer you can claim on a phone, including through a mobile browser. With an app only bonus, the browser isn't enough: you need the downloaded app. That matters because apps need storage, a recent operating system and sometimes extra permissions. App offers sit among the other casino bonus types we explain.

Do our UK partners have an app only bonus?

Not as a welcome offer. The key terms for Coral, Ladbrokes, PlayOJO, Casumo and 10bet don't restrict their welcome offers to the app, so the same offer, with the same deposit, spins and wagering, applies wherever you sign up. All five do have UK apps on both the App Store and Google Play, and the listings describe some in-app features and games, covered further down.

Why casinos offer app only bonuses

An app keeps a casino on your home screen, lets it send notifications if you allow them, and makes depositing quicker through stored payment details or wallet payments. Those are commercial advantages for the operator, and an app only bonus is a way to persuade customers to install it.

That's worth bearing in mind. An app makes gambling more convenient, and convenience cuts both ways: quick deposits and one-tap access can make it easier to play more often than you planned. None of that makes an app offer bad, but it's a reason to set limits inside the app before you start. The app vs website bonus comparison looks at the pros and cons of each route.

How to claim an app only bonus

The steps below work for an app only bonus or for any of our partners' welcome offers claimed through an app.

  1. Download the app from the official App Store or Google Play listing, checking that the developer or seller matches the casino's operator.
  2. Check the app's age rating (18+) and that your device meets the iOS requirement or works with the Android listing.
  3. Read the offer's significant terms on the sign-up screen: deposit, qualifying bet, spin value, wagering, expiry and excluded payment methods.
  4. Register and complete age and identity checks; UK casinos must verify you before you can deposit or play.
  5. Set a deposit limit at the prompt before your first deposit.
  6. Opt in if required, then deposit with a qualifying method.
  7. Meet any qualifying condition and use the reward within its time limit, on the listed games.

App only bonus vs website offer: what changes

The terms of a bonus don't change with the device, but the experience does. Here's how the app and website routes compare for the same offer.

If your phone can't run the latest app version, a mobile browser gives you the same partner welcome offers. Our pages on whether free spins work on the app and mobile free spins cover the spin offers specifically.

In-app promotions described in partner app listings

While no partner welcome offer is app-only, the store listings describe several in-app features for existing players. These are features named in the listings, not offers we can value; check the app's promotions area for current terms.

Free-to-play prize games don't need a stake, but any real-money prize they pay may come with terms. Read the prize terms in the app before playing.

App only bonus terms to check

An app-exclusive offer carries the same kinds of conditions as any bonus, plus a few that are specific to apps. These are the lines to look for.

  • Where the bonus can be used. Some app offers must be claimed in the app but can be played anywhere; others work only in the app. Check whether switching to the website cancels anything.
  • Eligible games. App libraries can differ slightly from the website's. The offer's selected games list is what counts.
  • Payment methods. Wallet payments are convenient but check they aren't excluded. Coral and Ladbrokes exclude PayPal, Skrill, Neteller, Paysafe and prepaid cards from their welcome offers; see the Apple Pay and Google Pay pages.
  • Claim window and expiry. App offers delivered by notification often have short windows.
  • Wagering and max bet. The 10x cap and the £5 and £2 slot stake limits apply in apps exactly as on websites.
  • Existing account status. New-customer offers stay new-customer offers, whichever device you use.

UK rules that apply to app only bonuses

A casino app is just another way of reaching the same licensed operator, so every UK rule applies in full. Under licence code 5.1.9 (opens in a new tab), all significant conditions of an incentive must be shown transparently at the point of sale and in adverts, with full terms no more than one click away online. In an app, that means the sign-up screen, not a buried menu. See our significant terms entry.

  • Age and identity checks must be completed before you deposit or play, including on demo games. See age verification before play.
  • Wagering is capped at 10 times the bonus since 19 January 2026, and offers can't mix products. A combined sports and casino app can't give casino spins for a sports bet.
  • Stake limits: £5 per slot spin for 25 and over, £2 for 18 to 24.
  • Game design: no autoplay, no turbo or slam-stop, at least 2.5 seconds per slot spin.
  • Credit cards can't be used, including through a wallet loaded with a credit card.

Beyond the occasional exclusive offer, the regulatory picture on a phone is identical to the one on a laptop.

Safer gambling tools inside casino apps

Every UK-licensed casino app must offer the same safer gambling tools as the website, and some listings name them. PlayOJO's lists Safe Mate, Take A Break and deposit limits; 10bet's lists deposit limits, breaks and self-exclusion; Coral's mentions safer gambling tools generally. Look for them in the account or settings menu.

Useful steps on a phone: set a deposit limit before the first deposit (UK casinos have prompted for one since 31 October 2025), switch on reality checks, and turn off notifications in your phone's settings if you don't want offers popping up. Our guide to setting deposit limits covers each brand. The National Gambling Helpline is free on 0808 8020 133, 24/7.

What casino apps can see: data and permissions

App store privacy labels say what data an app collects and how it's used. They're worth a look before installing, especially for location. Coral's iOS label lists coarse location as linked to you, and Ladbrokes' lists precise location as not linked to you. PlayOJO's iOS listing says the app may use location even when it isn't open. Casumo's and 10bet's Google Play pages say they may share or collect location data.

You can manage location and notification permissions in your phone's settings. To be sure you're installing a licensed operator's genuine app, check that the developer name matches the operator on the Gambling Commission register; our guide to telling a licensed casino from an unlicensed one shows how.

Frequently asked questions

What is an app only bonus?

It's a casino offer that can only be claimed through the operator's mobile app, not its website or a mobile browser. Some are welcome offers for new customers; others are in-app rewards for existing players. The usual bonus rules still apply: 18+, significant terms shown up front, wagering capped at 10 times the bonus. None of our partners' welcome offers is app-only by its key terms. The mobile casino bonus page explains the broader category of offers you can claim on a phone.

Is the Coral welcome offer only available on the app?

No, going by its key terms. Coral's offer (bet £10 or more on slots to get 100 free spins at 10p, no wagering on winnings) is for new players aged 18 or over and isn't limited to the app. You can claim it through the Coral Casino app, which needs iOS 18.0 or later on Apple devices, or through the website. Certain deposit types are excluded, so check before paying in. The Coral app page covers the app in detail.

Do free spins work on a casino app?

Yes. Free spins from our partners' offers can be played in their apps on the listed games, as long as those games are available on your device. The spin value, expiry and other terms are the same as on the website. If spins don't appear in the app, try the website or contact support before they expire. The question page on whether free spins work on the app lists the usual causes and fixes.

Why do casinos give bonuses for using their app?

Because an app keeps the brand on your phone, makes deposits quicker and lets the casino send notifications if you allow them. Those things tend to increase how often people play, which is why operators want customers to install it. That's useful to know when weighing an app offer: the convenience that makes it attractive can also make it harder to stick to limits. The app vs website bonus comparison sets out the trade-offs.

Are app only bonuses safe?

They're as safe as the casino offering them. A bonus in the app of a UK-licensed operator has the same protections as one on its website: clear terms, a 10x wagering cap, stake limits and safer gambling tools. Download only from the official App Store or Google Play listing, and check that the developer matches the licensed operator. Avoid apps from unlicensed sites, which have none of these protections. Our guide to checking a casino licence shows how to confirm it.

Can I claim a bonus on the app and play it on the website?

Usually yes for our partners' welcome offers, since the account and bonus are the same whichever device you use. For a genuine app only bonus, the terms may say it must be used in the app; read that line before switching. Bonus balances and wagering progress normally show in your account on both. If anything looks different, contact support. The page on whether you can play free spins on any device covers this situation in more depth.

Can I use Apple Pay for a bonus in a casino app?

Often, but check the offer's exclusions. Coral, Ladbrokes and Casumo list Apple Pay as a deposit method, and PlayOJO's help page names it. Apple Pay isn't on Coral's or Ladbrokes' excluded lists in the key terms, though Coral also excludes certain debit cards, so confirm in the terms. Credit cards can't be used to gamble in Great Britain, including through Apple Pay. The Apple Pay casino bonus page has the brand-by-brand picture.

Which partner casino apps are casino-only?

Coral and Ladbrokes each have a standalone casino app, separate from their sportsbook apps, and PlayOJO is a casino-only brand. Casumo's iOS app combines casino and sports betting, and 10bet's app is a combined sports and casino app. Since 19 January 2026, offers can't mix products, so a combined app still keeps sports and casino promotions separate. The Casumo app and 10bet app pages cover the combined apps in more detail.

Can I stop bonus notifications from a casino app?

Yes. You can turn off notifications for the app in your phone's settings at any time, and you can manage email and text marketing in the casino's account settings. UK rules since 1 May 2025 require separate opt-in for each product and each marketing channel, with nothing ticked by default. If offers keep arriving after you opt out, complain to the operator. Our page on marketing consent rules explains what operators must do.

Do I need the latest phone to use a casino bonus app?

Not necessarily, but some apps need a recent operating system. The Coral and Ladbrokes iOS apps need iOS 18.0 or later, 10bet's needs iOS 16.0, and PlayOJO's and Casumo's need iOS 15.0. Google Play pages don't show a minimum Android version, so check on your device. If your phone can't run the app, the mobile website offers the same partner welcome bonuses. The Ladbrokes app page covers one example in detail.
