How do I cancel free spins?

How do I cancel free spins? Most UK casinos have no single cancel button: you either don't accept or claim the spins, let them expire unused, or forfeit them from the bonus area or by asking customer support. With no wagering spins there's usually nothing to lose by leaving them; with wagered spins, forfeiting also removes any winnings still locked.

Key takeaways

  • Unclaimed or unaccepted spins simply aren't credited: Coral's must be accepted within 48 hours, Ladbrokes' claimed before 23:59 each day.
  • Spins you've already received can be left to expire or forfeited through the bonus area or support.
  • Forfeiting wagered spins removes any winnings still tied to the wagering.
  • A free spins round inside a slot can't be cancelled once it starts.
  • To stop future offers, change your marketing preferences; to stop gambling, use a time-out or self-exclusion.

How do I cancel free spins? Your four options

Free spins can't always be switched off with one tap, but you always have a way to decline them. Which route fits depends on whether the spins have been credited yet and whether they carry wagering.

Why people want to cancel free spins

  • They'd rather play with their own money only, without bonus rules on the account.
  • The spins come with wagering and they want winnings without strings.
  • They want to withdraw their deposit, and worry the spins complicate it.
  • They didn't mean to opt in, or the spins are on games they don't want.
  • They're cutting back, and a pile of spins feels like a nudge to keep playing.

Each reason has a slightly different best answer, which the sections below cover. If the last one applies, skip to the section below on cancelling because you want to cut back.

Cancelling credited free spins step by step

  1. Log in and open the bonus, rewards or promotions area where your spins are listed.
  2. Look for an option such as forfeit, decline, remove or cancel next to the spins.
  3. Read the warning: it should say what happens to any winnings linked to the spins.
  4. Confirm, then check your balance breakdown to make sure the spins are gone and your cash is untouched.
  5. If there's no option on screen, contact support by live chat or email and ask for the spins to be removed; keep the reply.
  6. Take a screenshot of the updated balance for your records.

Our guide on how to opt out of bonuses has more on the opt-out and forfeit screens, and how do I contact support about a bonus lists what to include in the message.

Declining or cancelling our partners' free spins

All three spins offers we list are opt-in by action: you only get the spins if you take a step to receive them. That makes declining straightforward.

PlayOJO80 spins after a qualifying first deposit via the offer linkAsk support to remove them, or leave them unusedLive chat or support@playojo.com (no phone listed)

PlayOJO's help page says free spins expire after 24 hours and that its Rewards section shows the game, spin value and deadline, so check there for the exact time. Because all three offers have no wagering on spin winnings, any winnings you've already made are cash and aren't affected if you let the remaining spins lapse. See Coral free spins and Ladbrokes free spins for full terms.

Cancelling free spins with wagering: a worked example

Wagered spins are where cancelling has a real cost. Suppose 50 spins at 10p (£5 of spins) win £6, credited as bonus funds with 10x wagering, so £60 of bets are needed before the £6 becomes cash. You've staked £20 so far.

  • Cancel now: the remaining bonus balance from the spins is removed, and your own cash balance stays as it is.
  • Carry on: you need another £40 of eligible bets. At a 4% house edge that costs about £1.60 on average, and the £6 may shrink, grow or vanish along the way.
  • Let it expire: same as cancelling, but on the casino's timetable rather than yours.

Since 19 January 2026, wagering on any bonus is capped at 10x, so the hurdle is smaller than it once was, but it's still extra play. Our free spins wagering explained page covers how these requirements are calculated.

Can I withdraw my deposit without cancelling the spins?

Your deposit is always yours to withdraw. The CMA principles that the Gambling Commission expects licensees to follow say you can take out your deposit balance at any time, even with a bonus active, and that wagering can't be applied to your own money. What may happen is that withdrawing cancels the bonus or spins automatically. Check the offer terms before you request it; our page on withdrawing your deposit with a bonus active explains the trade-off.

Can I cancel a slot's free spins round?

No. A free spins feature triggered inside a slot is part of the game round you've already paid for, and it plays out to the end. UK slot design rules since 31 October 2021 have removed autoplay and require at least 2.5 seconds per spin, so each feature spin is played one at a time. If you close the game mid-feature, the round is normally resumed or settled; see what happens if I close the game during free spins and the free spins round entry.

Stopping future free spins offers

If what you really want is to stop being sent spins at all, change your marketing settings rather than cancelling each offer. Since 1 May 2025, licensed operators must ask for your consent to marketing by product and by channel, so you can, for example, turn off casino offers by email and text while keeping account messages. Our guides to stopping bonus emails and how do I stop bonus offers show where the settings usually live, and marketing consent rules explains the regulation.

Cancelling free spins because you want to cut back

If spins are tempting you to play more than you'd like, cancelling them is a good start, and there are stronger tools too. You can set a deposit limit, take a time-out, or self-exclude from every licensed online site through GAMSTOP's free scheme (opens in a new tab). Operators must also stop marketing and new bonuses for customers showing strong signs of harm, as our page on bonuses and harm indicators explains.

The National Gambling Helpline is free and open 24/7 on 0808 8020 133, and GamCare's live chat (opens in a new tab) is another way to talk it through.

UK rules that protect you when you decline free spins

  • Opt-in, not automatic. Players must opt into promotions rather than be enrolled automatically.
  • No changes after opt-in. The Gambling Commission's guidance on the right to vary a promotion (opens in a new tab) says operators mustn't vary or withdraw a promotion for someone who has opted in, except to prevent fraud or similar unlawful behaviour.
  • Your deposit stays yours. Un-staked deposits can't be confiscated, whatever you do with the spins.
  • Clear terms. Significant terms, including expiry and how to forfeit, must be easy to find before and after you opt in.

Partner spins offers you can simply choose not to claim

If you do want spins, the offers below don't add wagering to winnings, and each one needs an action from you to receive them, so declining is easy. All are 18+ and terms apply.

  • Coral: deposit (certain types excluded) and bet £10+ on slots for 100 free spins at 10p on selected games; accept within 48 hours, valid 7 days, no wagering. PayPal, Skrill, Neteller, Paysafe and prepaid card deposits, plus certain debit cards, won't qualify.
  • Ladbrokes: after depositing, spend £10+ on slots for 50 free spins a day over 10 days (max 500 at 10p), claimed before 23:59 daily and valid 7 days, no wagering. Prepaid cards, PayPal, Paysafe, Neteller, Skrill and Moneybookers are excluded.
  • PlayOJO: first deposit of at least £10 for 80 free spins at 10p on Big Bass Bonanza; winnings paid in cash; not available in Northern Ireland.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a cancel button for free spins?

Sometimes. Many casinos show a forfeit, decline or remove option next to active spins in the bonus or rewards area, but layouts vary and some don't offer one on screen. If you can't find it, contact support by live chat or email and ask for the spins to be removed, then check your balance afterwards. Our guide on how to opt out of bonuses and the page on should I opt out of a bonus cover both routes.

What happens if I just don't use my free spins?

They expire at the end of their validity period and disappear from your account, with nothing taken from your cash balance. Coral's spins are valid for 7 days once accepted, each daily set of Ladbrokes spins is valid for 7 days, and PlayOJO's help page says its free spins expire after 24 hours. Letting them lapse is the simplest way to decline. See free spins expiry and why do bonuses expire.

Will cancelling free spins remove my winnings?

Only if the winnings are still locked by wagering. With no wagering spins, such as Coral's, Ladbrokes' and PlayOJO's, winnings are paid as cash when the spins are played, so cancelling the rest doesn't touch them. With wagered spins, forfeiting usually removes the bonus balance that came from the spins. Check the warning before you confirm. See are bonus wins paid in cash and can you withdraw free spins winnings.

Can I get cancelled free spins back?

Usually not. Once spins are forfeited or expire, casinos generally don't reinstate them, though support may look again if the spins were removed by mistake or never arrived because of a fault. If you think that happened, contact support with the date, offer name and screenshots. Our pages on can I get my free spins back and what if the casino forgets my free spins explain how to ask.

Can I skip some days of the Ladbrokes 50-a-day spins?

Yes. Ladbrokes' offer credits 50 free spins a day for the first 10 days, and each day's spins must be claimed before 23:59. If you don't claim on a given day, you don't receive that day's spins, so skipping is a built-in way to decline part of the offer. The overall maximum is 500 spins at 10p. The Ladbrokes casino bonus and Ladbrokes bonus expiry pages have the full terms.

Can I cancel free spins to withdraw my deposit?

You don't need to cancel anything first, because UK principles say your deposit balance can be withdrawn at any time, even with a bonus active. The catch is that withdrawing may cancel the spins or bonus automatically, so check the offer terms to see what you'd lose. With no wagering spins, any winnings already paid are cash. See can I withdraw my deposit with a bonus active and does a bonus affect withdrawals.

How do I stop getting free spins emails and texts?

Change your marketing preferences in your account settings, or use the unsubscribe link in any message. Since 1 May 2025, operators must get your consent for marketing separately for each product and channel, so you can switch off casino promotions by email or text without closing your account. If messages continue after you've opted out, complain. See how to stop bonus emails and direct marketing rules.

Can a casino cancel my free spins?

Only in limited circumstances. Gambling Commission guidance says operators mustn't vary or withdraw a promotion once you've opted in, except to prevent fraud or similar unlawful behaviour, and they must not apply play restrictions that weren't clearly set out. Spins can also lapse under the stated expiry, or be removed if a clearly stated term is broken. See can a casino take back a bonus and can bonus terms change after I opt in.

Can I swap my free spins to a different game?

Generally no: spins are tied to the games the offer lists, and casinos rarely move them. PlayOJO's 80 welcome spins are on Big Bass Bonanza, while Coral and Ladbrokes list their own selected games on the promotion page. If none suit you, declining is usually the only option. See can I choose my free spins slot and how do I know which slots my free spins are on.

Should I cancel free spins if I'm worried about my gambling?

Yes, declining offers can help, but it works best alongside other tools such as deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion. Operators must stop offering bonuses to customers showing strong signs of harm, and you can self-exclude from all licensed online sites with GAMSTOP. Free, confidential support is available 24/7 from the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133. Our pages on bonuses and gambling harm and how to self-exclude explain the options.
