Pick and win is a casino promotion where you choose one of several hidden boxes, cards or chests and reveal a prize such as free spins or bonus funds. Choosing feels important, but with prizes placed at random every option has the same chance, so the prize table sets the value. None of our partners' welcome offers is a pick and win game; here's how they work and what they're worth. 18+.
In a pick and win promotion, each hidden option usually has the same chance; your choice doesn't change the average prize.
Work out the value from the prize table: in our 12-card example, one pick is worth about £1.79 on average.
A pick bonus inside a slot is part of that game's RTP; a pick and win promotion is a separate marketing prize with its own terms.
Any bonus funds won carry no more than 10x wagering in Great Britain since 19 January 2026.
If a 'free pick' needs a deposit, UK advertising rules say that condition must be clear.

What pick and win means at a UK casino
The phrase covers two quite different things, and it helps to separate them before looking at value.
A pick and win promotion: a marketing game in your account or an email. You're given a pick, choose from a grid of boxes or cards, and reveal a bonus prize. It sits with other types of casino bonus such as wheels and prize drops.
A pick feature inside a slot: a bonus round that asks you to choose objects to reveal cash amounts or free spins settings. It's part of the game you're staking on.
This page is mainly about the first. The second is covered further down, because people searching "pick and win" often mean a slot's pick round, and the two are valued in completely different ways.
Up front: none of the welcome offers from our five partners is a pick and win game. Each gives a stated, known prize instead, which makes the value easier to judge.
How a pick and win promotion works
You receive a pick, either for opting in, for a qualifying deposit or for a set amount of real-money play.
The game shows a grid of hidden options, often three to twelve boxes, cards or chests.
You choose one. Some games then reveal what was behind the others, which is presentation only.
Your prize is added to your bonus area, where you activate it and read its own terms.
You use the spins or play through any bonus funds before the prize expires.
As with any promotion, read the terms before step 1. If the pick comes from a deposit, the deposit is the real decision, and the game just decides how the bonus is wrapped. Our guide on how to opt in to a bonus covers the sign-up side.
Does your pick change what you win?
When the prizes are placed behind the options at random, no. Take three boxes holding £1, £2 and £10. Whichever box you choose, you have a one-in-three chance of each prize, so the average is (£1 + £2 + £10) ÷ 3 = about £4.33 for every box. Picking the left box, the one that "feels lucky" or the one you didn't choose last time makes no difference.
Some games show the unpicked prizes afterwards, so you see the £10 you "just missed". That near-miss feeling is powerful, but it tells you nothing: the £10 was always a one-in-three chance. In some digital versions, the prize may even be decided before the grid is drawn, so the reveal of other boxes is decoration. Either way, the maths is the same, and you can't pick your way to a better average.
Pick and win prize table: a worked example
Operators rarely publish full prize tables, so this example is hypothetical, built to show the method. Imagine a 12-card grid. Spins are valued at 96% RTP, and bonus funds at 10x wagering on a 4% house edge.

The average value per pick is (8 × £0.96 + 3 × £3 + 1 × £4.80) ÷ 12 = £21.48 ÷ 12 = about £1.79. But two picks in three give the smallest prize, under £1. If the pick needed a £10 deposit, the deposit is still played at the same house edge, so the promotion doesn't make that play cheaper overall. Our expected value of a casino bonus guide uses the same method on larger offers.
Pick and win promotions vs pick bonus rounds in slots
Many slots include a pick round as a bonus feature, and our checked slot data lists several. Barcrest's Action Bank (95.16% RTP) has a Big Bank pick bonus triggered by Golden Vault symbols. NetEnt's Blood Suckers II (96.94% RTP) has a Hidden Treasure pick bonus as well as free spins. In Big Bass Secrets of the Golden Lake (96.07% RTP, with lower versions), a card pick chooses between two free spins modes, Barcrest's Rainbow Riches Pick 'n' Mix also turns up in searches for this phrase. Check each game's help screen for exactly how its features work.

One practical overlap: if you use casino free spins on a slot with a pick feature, the spins can trigger that feature just like paid spins. Our page on whether free spins can trigger the bonus round explains how.
Pick and win terms that matter
How you earn picks: opt-in, deposit or play, and whether each pick expires.
Prize list and odds: whether the operator publishes what's in the grid.
Wagering on bonus prizes: up to 10x at a UK-licensed casino; check whether spin winnings are cash or bonus funds.
Max bet and max win while a bonus-funds prize is active.
Eligibility: account verified, one pick per person or household, region limits.
Our guide on how to spot unfair bonus terms lists warning signs, such as terms that let an operator decide what counts as a breach without explaining it.
UK rules on pick and win offers
A pick and win prize is an incentive, so the Gambling Commission's promotion rules apply in full. Since 19 January 2026, wagering on bonus funds is capped at 10x and incentives can't combine different gambling products, as the Commission set out in its news on safer and simpler promotions (opens in a new tab). Terms must be clear and readily available, players must opt in, and an operator can't change a promotion after you've joined except to prevent fraud or similar unlawful behaviour.
Advertising rules govern the word "free". CAP's guidance on free bets and bonuses (opens in a new tab) says an offer shouldn't be described as free if you have to risk your own money to qualify, and the CAP Code's rules on free claims (opens in a new tab) require marketing to make clear what you must do to take part. A "free pick" that needs a £10 deposit has to say so. Our page on free in gambling ads has the detail.
Pick and win and our partner casinos
None of the partner welcome offers is a pick and win game, and our checked offer terms don't include one. Coral's and Ladbrokes' app store listings describe free-to-play games with prizes for account holders; Ladbrokes' mentions Instant Spins and a daily prize wheel, and Coral's mentions free-to-play games with real-money prizes. Whether any of those uses a pick format, and with what prizes, isn't in our data, so check inside your account and read each game's terms.
PlayOJO's approach for existing players is different: its help page describes OJO Levels, daily Kickers and OJOplus money back on every game. Casumo's app listing describes Reel Races and The Adventure. For a broader look at in-account extras, see our reward games guide.
Is a pick and win bonus worth it?
Advantages
A pick earned just for opting in costs nothing and may add a small prize.
UK-licensed versions cap any bonus wagering at 10x.
Prizes are usually spins on a named slot, which are easy to value.
Drawbacks
The usual prize is the smallest one; headline prizes are rare.
Prize odds are seldom published, so you can't value a pick precisely.
Picks tied to deposits can encourage deposits you hadn't planned.
In short, a pick earned without spending is a harmless extra. A pick that needs a deposit should be judged as a deposit offer with an uncertain bonus, and compared with offers that state their prize up front. Gambling costs money over time whatever the bonus; if it's stopped being fun, the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133 is free and open 24/7. See also should I opt out of a bonus.
Known prizes instead of a hidden pick
The clearest alternative to a pick and win is an offer where you know the prize before you deposit. These partner welcome offers each state the number of spins and their value; all are 18+ and terms apply.
Coral: deposit (certain types excluded) and bet £10 or more on slots to get 100 free spins, 10p each, so £10 of spins on selected games. Accept within 48 hours, use within 7 days; winnings have no wagering. Deposits by Neteller, PayPal, Paysafe, Skrill, prepaid card or certain debit cards won't count. The offer runs until 1 February 2027. Read the Coral free spins breakdown.
Ladbrokes: deposit and spend £10 or more on slots for 50 free spins a day over the first 10 days, up to 500 at 10p, or up to £50 of spins. Claim each day before 23:59; each batch lasts 7 days on selected games, with no wagering. Paying in by prepaid card, PayPal, Paysafe, Neteller, Skrill or Moneybookers rules you out. Our Coral vs Ladbrokes comparison weighs the two, which share an operator, LC International Limited.
PlayOJO: a first deposit of £10 or more brings 80 free spins on Big Bass Bonanza (96.71% RTP), 10p each. That's £8 of spins, worth about £7.74 on average, with winnings paid as cash. New UK customers only, excluding Northern Ireland; via the designated offer link and not combinable with other offers.
No partner welcome offer is a pick and win game. These are the nearest clear-cut alternatives: a known number of 10p spins with no wagering on winnings, rather than a hidden prize. 18+, terms apply.
Coral and Ladbrokes are both run by LC International Limited (Entain). If you already hold an account with one Entain brand, you may not be able to open a new account with another; check the terms before signing up.

Frequently asked questions
What is a pick and win bonus?
A pick and win bonus is a casino promotion where you choose one of several hidden options, such as boxes, cards or chests, to reveal a prize. Prizes are usually free spins or bonus funds, sometimes cash. You earn the pick by opting in, depositing or playing, and the prize then has its own terms. It's one of several reward games casinos use to keep existing customers engaged, and it isn't part of any of our partners' welcome offers.
Does it matter which box I pick?
No, not when prizes are placed at random. Every option then has the same chance of each prize, so the average value is identical whichever you choose. With three boxes holding £1, £2 and £10, each box is worth about £4.33 on average. Seeing the unpicked prizes afterwards can feel like a near miss, but it doesn't mean you chose badly. Our bonus myths guide covers this and other common beliefs about bonus games.
How do I work out what a pick is worth?
Multiply each prize's average value by its chance, then add them up. For spins, the average value is spins × stake × RTP; for bonus funds, it's the bonus minus wagering × house edge. In our 12-card example, the result is about £1.79 a pick, though two picks in three give a prize under £1. If odds aren't published, you can't work out an exact figure. Our free spins maths guide explains each step.
Is a pick and win the same as a pick bonus in a slot?
No. A slot's pick round is part of the game you're staking on, paid for within its RTP, and triggered by symbols during play. A pick and win promotion is a separate marketing prize from the casino with its own terms and wagering. Using casino free spins on a slot can trigger its pick round in the normal way. See our Action Bank free spins page for an example of a slot with a pick bonus.
Do pick and win prizes have wagering?
Bonus-funds prizes usually do, capped at 10x the bonus in Great Britain since 19 January 2026. A £5 prize can need up to £50 of qualifying play. Free spins prizes may pay winnings as cash or as bonus funds with wagering; the terms must say which. Cash prizes have none. If the prize terms don't state the wagering clearly, ask support before using it. Our wagering requirements guide shows how to calculate the play needed.
Can a casino call a pick and win 'free' if I have to deposit?
Not without making the condition clear. CAP guidance says an offer shouldn't be described as free if you must risk your own money to qualify, and marketing has to explain what you need to do to take part. A "free pick" that needs a deposit should say so next to the claim, not hide it in the terms. If you see a misleading ad, you can complain to the ASA. Our significant conditions in ads page explains the rule.
Do Coral or Ladbrokes have pick and win games?
Their welcome offers don't include one. Both app store listings describe free-to-play prize games for account holders: Ladbrokes' mentions Instant Spins and a daily prize wheel, and Coral's mentions free-to-play games with real-money prizes. Whether any of them uses a pick format isn't in the terms we've checked, so look inside your account. Both are run by LC International Limited. Our Ladbrokes existing customers page covers offers after sign-up.
Can pick and win prizes be changed after I opt in?
Not at a UK-licensed casino, except in narrow cases. Gambling Commission guidance says operators must not use terms letting them vary or withdraw a promotion for a customer who has opted in, unless needed to prevent fraud or similar unlawful behaviour. The terms must also stay available for the whole promotion. If a prize you've won is removed without a clear reason, ask for an explanation in writing. See can bonus terms change after I opt in.
Are pick and win games fair?
At a UK-licensed casino they must be offered on clear, fair terms, and operators can't keep sole discretion over what breaches them. What fairness doesn't mean is generous: prize budgets are set so the operator expects to come out ahead across all players. If odds aren't published, you can't check the value, only the terms. Think of a pick as a small extra and never as a reason to deposit. Our how do I know a bonus is fair page lists what to check.
What's a better alternative to a pick and win promotion?
An offer with a stated prize is easier to judge. Our partners' welcome offers all say what you get: 100 spins at 10p after a £10 slots bet at Coral, up to 500 spins over 10 days at Ladbrokes, and 80 spins on Big Bass Bonanza at PlayOJO, each with no wagering on winnings, for new customers aged 18+. Payment exclusions and other terms apply. Compare them on our free spins hub.
