Claim window meaning, put simply: it is the time you are given to accept, activate or collect a bonus once you have earned it. Miss the window and the reward usually lapses before you have used a single spin, which makes it a different clock from the one that limits how long a bonus lasts once it is yours.
A claim window is the deadline to accept a reward; the validity period is how long it lasts after that.
Coral gives 48 hours to accept its 100 spins, and Ladbrokes sets a 23:59 cut-off for each day’s 50 spins.
Time limits to claim are a significant condition, so the ASA expects them near the headline offer.
Missed claim windows are rarely reopened, so check the deadline before you qualify.

Claim window meaning for bonuses and free spins
The window opens when you become entitled to a reward and closes at a set deadline. Within it you have to take an action: press “accept” on a pop-up, open the spins in your rewards area, choose a game, or make the deposit that triggers the offer. If the deadline passes without that action, the reward is normally withdrawn and can’t be reclaimed.
The phrase rarely appears word for word in casino terms. Look instead for wording such as “must be accepted within 48 hours”, “claim before 23:59”, “opt in before depositing” or “deposit within 7 days of registration”. Each is a claim window, just described in a different way. Our bonus terms guide shows where these lines usually sit in a full set of conditions.
Claim window vs validity period vs wagering deadline
Three separate clocks can run on one offer, and mixing them up is a common reason people lose spins. The claim window is how long you have to accept the reward. The validity period is how long the reward stays usable once accepted. A wagering deadline, on match bonuses, is how long you have to finish the play-through before the bonus and its winnings are removed.

What a missed claim window costs, in pounds
Ladbrokes’ new-customer offer shows the maths most clearly. After a £10 slots spend, 50 spins at 10p are released each day for 10 days, up to 500 spins or £50 of spins. Each day’s spins must be claimed before 23:59. If someone claims on seven days and forgets three, they receive 350 spins, or £35 of spins, instead of £50.
On a slot with 96% RTP, 350 spins at 10p would return about £33.60 on average and the full 500 about £48. That £14.40 gap in average value is the cost of three missed deadlines. Individual results vary hugely either way, and averages only settle down over very large numbers of spins, but the comparison shows why a daily window deserves attention. Our free spins maths guide explains the averages.
Ladbrokes’ offer is for new customers aged 18+, with no wagering on spin winnings. Prepaid cards, PayPal, Paysafe, Neteller, Skrill and Moneybookers deposits don’t qualify. Terms apply.
Why casinos set a claim window at all
Operators give several reasons. A deadline keeps an account’s rewards tidy, stops unclaimed liabilities building up, and fits daily offers that are meant to be collected on a schedule. It also lines up with selected games lists and offer dates that change over time. Coral’s current spins offer, for instance, runs from 1 October 2026 to 1 February 2027, so a reward can’t sit unclaimed indefinitely.
Whatever the reason, the deadline is a condition you agree to, and the Gambling Commission expects terms to be clear and readily available. A short window isn’t unfair in itself, but a window that isn’t disclosed properly may be. If a claim button never appeared, or vanished early, that is worth raising with support.
UK rules on showing a claim window
The advertising regulator treats time limits as a key condition. The CAP guidance on free bets and bonuses in gambling ads (opens in a new tab) lists “time limits to claim or use” among the significant conditions that must appear with the headline offer, and the ASA upheld a 2024 complaint against a free bet ad that left out a deadline for replying to a text message. Under LCCP 5.1.9 (opens in a new tab), significant conditions must be shown transparently and prominently, with full terms no more than one click away.
Don’t confuse this with the time-based incentive rules in the code in force from 19 January 2026. Those stop operators altering or increasing a reward because you met the qualifying spend sooner than the offer period. A plain deadline to accept a reward doesn’t change its value, which is why claim windows remain normal. For the wider picture, see our page on significant terms.
How to avoid missing a claim window
Before qualifying, find the line in the offer terms that says when the reward must be accepted.
Note whether it runs in hours from crediting (as with Coral’s 48 hours) or to a clock time (as with Ladbrokes’ 23:59).
Check your rewards or bonus area after qualifying rather than waiting for a pop-up.
If a daily offer doesn’t suit your routine, consider whether you want it at all; there is no obligation to play every day.
Contact support before the deadline if the reward hasn’t appeared.
Glossary terms linked to the claim window
Auto claim: rewards credited without any action, so there is no claim window to miss.
Pending bonus: a reward waiting to be accepted or activated.
Coral has the most clearly stated claim window of our partners: new players aged 18+ who deposit and bet £10 on slots get 100 spins at 10p (£10 of spins) on selected games, which must be accepted within 48 hours and then used within 7 days. Spin winnings carry no wagering. PayPal, Paysafe, Neteller, Skrill, prepaid cards and certain debit cards don’t qualify, and terms apply.
Ladbrokes’ daily 23:59 deadline suits people who would log in anyway; anyone who wouldn’t may collect fewer than 500 spins. PlayOJO’s 80 spins on Big Bass Bonanza (10p each, £8 of spins, no wagering) follow a first deposit of at least £10 by new UK customers aged 18+ outside Northern Ireland; check the offer terms for how and when they are credited. Our free spins hub compares the three.
Coral and Ladbrokes are both run by LC International Limited (Entain). If you already hold an account with one Entain brand, you may not be able to open a new account with another; check the terms before signing up.

Frequently asked questions
What does claim window mean in casino terms?
A claim window is the period in which you must accept or activate a reward you have earned. It might be stated in hours, such as Coral’s 48 hours to accept its free spins, or as a clock time, such as Ladbrokes’ 23:59 deadline for each day’s batch. When the window closes, the unclaimed reward is normally removed. It is separate from the validity period, which limits how long you can use the reward after accepting it. Our validity period entry and free spins expiry page explain the second clock.
Can a casino reopen a claim window I missed?
Sometimes, but it isn’t something to count on. The terms you agreed to set the deadline, and most operators apply it strictly to every customer. If a technical fault stopped the reward appearing, or the claim button never showed, you have a stronger case, so contact support quickly with the date and time you qualified. A screenshot helps. If support can’t resolve it, you can follow the casino’s complaints process. Our answers on what to do if the casino forgets your spins and getting free spins back cover the next steps.
Is a claim window the same as a bonus expiry date?
No. One controls whether you can accept the reward; the other, an expiry date, controls how long you can use it once accepted. Coral’s offer shows both: 48 hours to accept 100 spins, then 7 days to play them. A wagering deadline is a third clock, found on match bonuses such as Casumo’s 10x within 7 days. Each can remove value in a different way, so it is worth reading all three. Our bonus expiry guide and the answer on why bonuses expire explain the logic behind them.
How long is a typical claim window?
There is no standard length. Among our partners, Coral allows 48 hours to accept its free spins, Ladbrokes sets a same-day 23:59 cut-off for each of its ten daily batches, and 10bet asks for the first deposit within 7 days of choosing its casino welcome bonus. Some offers have no separate claim step at all because the reward is credited automatically. The only reliable source is the significant terms of the specific offer. Our guide to reading a promotions page shows where deadlines usually appear, and the auto claim entry covers offers without one.
Why are my free spins not showing in the claim area?
Usually because the qualifying step hasn’t registered yet, the payment method didn’t qualify, or the spins were credited somewhere you didn’t look. Coral and Ladbrokes both exclude PayPal, e-wallets and prepaid cards, which is a common cause. Some offers place spins in a rewards hub rather than the game lobby. Check the promotion page, refresh your account, and contact support before the claim deadline passes. Our troubleshooting answer on free spins not showing and the page on when free spins credit list the usual fixes.
Do UK rules say how long a claim window must be?
No. Neither the Gambling Commission nor the ASA sets a minimum length. What the rules require is disclosure: time limits to claim or use a reward are significant conditions, so they should appear with the headline offer, and the full terms should be one click away under LCCP 5.1.9. Terms also have to be fair and transparent under consumer law. A very short window that was clearly shown is generally allowed; one that was hidden may not be. Our pages on bonus terms that must be clear and significant conditions in ads cover the detail.
Should I log in every day to catch a daily claim window?
Only if you would do so anyway and it fits your budget and routine. A daily window is designed to bring you back, and collecting spins can lead to playing more than planned. Missing a day costs that day’s spins and nothing else; with Ladbrokes, that is 50 spins worth £5 at 10p each. If keeping up feels like pressure, skip it, set a time reminder, or take a break. Our guide to bonuses and gambling harm and the page on when to say no to a bonus are worth reading.
