How missions work at UK online casinos is straightforward: the casino sets you a task, such as a number of spins on a named slot at a minimum stake, tracks your progress, and pays a fixed reward once you complete it. Unlike a prize drop or a tournament, everyone who finishes gets paid. The real question is whether the reward is worth more than the play the task asks for.
A casino mission pays a set reward for finishing a stated task, such as 100 spins at 20p on a listed slot.
The cost of the task is the stake it requires times the house edge; compare that with the reward’s real value.
Rewards are often spins or bonus funds; bonus rewards can’t carry more than 10x wagering since 19 January 2026.
Missions can’t mix casino with betting or bingo, and a mission’s reward can’t be increased because you complete it sooner.
Skip any mission that asks you to play more than you planned to.

How missions work: task, tracker, reward
Every casino mission has three parts. The task tells you what to do: play a number of rounds, stake a set amount, or land a particular result on named games. The tracker shows your progress, usually as a bar or a counter. The reward is paid once the tracker reaches the end, provided you did it within the time allowed. Some casinos chain missions together so finishing one opens the next.
The model is close to a bet and get bonus: you do something specific and receive a known reward. The difference is that missions are usually aimed at existing customers and repeat over days or weeks, while a bet-and-get deal is often a one-off for new players. Our casino missions page looks at the promotion type itself, and the casino challenges page covers a close cousin.
Missions are for adults (18+) only, terms apply to each one, and completing a task never changes the odds of the games involved.

What drives the cost
Spin count
Play 100 rounds on a listed slot at 20p or more
Number of spins × minimum stake
Stake total
Stake £25 in total on listed games

Result-based
Trigger a slot’s bonus round
Unknown: it could take a few spins or hundreds
Collection
Play five different listed games
Minimum stake on each game
Level-up
Earn points to move up a level
Total play needed for each level
Result-based missions are the hardest to value because you can’t know in advance how much play they’ll take. A mission to trigger a slot bonus round on a high-volatility game could need far more spins than you expect. Spin-count and stake-total missions are easier: you can work out the cost before you start.
How to take part in a casino mission
Open the mission from the promotions page or rewards area and read the full terms, not just the headline.
Note the games, minimum stake, the number of spins or total stake needed, and the deadline.
Work out the cost: required stake × house edge. Compare it with the reward’s real value (see the next section).
Opt in if asked. Play before opting in usually doesn’t count.
Play only the listed games at the stated stake, watching the tracker update.
Collect the reward when the tracker completes, and check how it’s paid, any wagering and when it expires.
Mission maths: is the reward worth the task?
Valuing a mission takes two numbers. The cost is the total you must stake multiplied by the game’s house edge. The value is what the reward is worth after any wagering. If the value is lower than the cost, the mission makes your play more expensive on average, not less. These worked examples use invented missions to show the method.

About £1 behind
The pattern is clear: a mission is only good value if it asks for play you would have done anyway. If you’d otherwise have played 100 spins at 10p, the first mission adds a little. If it pushes you to play 200 spins at 20p when you’d planned on 50, the extra play costs more than the reward. These are averages; any session can go much better or worse. Our free spins value page and expected value guide explain the formulas.
Mission rewards and the wagering attached
Mission rewards usually come as spins, bonus funds, cash or loyalty currency. Spins are valued at number of spins times stake per spin, so 20 spins at 10p are worth £2 before RTP is applied. Bonus funds are worth less than their face value if wagering applies, and since 19 January 2026 that wagering can’t be more than 10 times the bonus. Cash rewards carry no wagering and can be withdrawn. Our 10x wagering cap page explains the limit.
Loyalty currencies work differently again. Coral’s app listing mentions Coral Coins alongside Smart Rewards and a Rewards Grabber, and Ladbrokes’ app listing mentions LadBucks, a reward currency used on arcade games. We don’t have checked exchange rates for either, so treat their value as unknown until you’ve read the current terms. Our loyalty bonus page and comp points page explain how point schemes are usually valued.
UK rules that changed how missions work
Missions are incentives, so the Gambling Commission’s promotion rules apply in full. Three rules in the code in force from 19 January 2026 have the biggest effect, as the Commission explained when it said gambling promotions would be safer and simpler (opens in a new tab).
No mixed-product tasks. A mission can’t ask you to place a sports bet and play slots, or reward casino play with bingo tickets. See the mixed-product promotion ban.
No bonus for finishing faster. A casino can’t alter or increase a reward because you complete the qualifying activity sooner than the full mission period. The Commission deleted an older clause about gambling for a pre-determined time or frequency, and added no new time-based ban. See the time-based incentive rules.
Longer-standing rules still matter. You must opt in rather than be enrolled automatically, and terms must be clear and available for the whole promotion. Under the Commission’s customer interaction code (opens in a new tab), operators must stop marketing and new bonus take-up for anyone showing strong signs of harm, so a casino may withdraw missions from an account for that reason. Our bonuses and harm indicators page explains when that happens.
Mission terms that deserve a second look
Result-based targets with no cap on how much play they could take.
High minimum stakes that push you above the amount you’d normally bet. The legal maximum for slots is £5 per spin for over-25s and £2 for 18 to 24-year-olds.
Short deadlines that compress a lot of play into a small window.
Rewards paid as bonus funds with wagering, which are worth less than their face value.
Progress that resets if you miss a day or stop partway through.
Loyalty-currency rewards with no published exchange rate.
Missions are designed to encourage play, and a progress bar sitting at 80% can feel hard to walk away from. That pull is worth recognising. Decide your budget for the session before looking at any mission, and only take on tasks that fit inside it. If you find yourself finishing a mission because you’ve started it, rather than because you wanted to play, stop there.
Account tools help: deposit limits, reality checks and time-outs are all available at UK-licensed casinos. If gambling stops being fun, the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133 is free and open 24/7, and GamCare (opens in a new tab) offers chat and other support. Our guide to opting out of bonuses explains how to stop receiving offers altogether.
Missions and our partner casinos’ welcome offers
None of our partners’ welcome offers is described as a mission, and we don’t have checked details of their current mission-style promotions, so check each casino’s promotions page. The closest thing is a bet-and-get welcome deal: a fixed task with a fixed reward. All are 18+ and terms apply.

Frequently asked questions
How do casino missions work?
A casino mission gives you a task, tracks your progress and pays a fixed reward when you finish. Typical tasks are a number of spins on a listed slot at a minimum stake, or a total amount staked within a deadline. Once the tracker completes, the reward is credited as spins, bonus funds, cash or loyalty points. Unlike a prize drop, everyone who completes the task is paid. You usually need to opt in first. Our casino missions page describes the promotion type, and casino challenges covers similar tasks.
Are casino missions worth doing?
Only when the task matches play you’d have done anyway. Work out the cost as the total stake required times the house edge, then compare it with the reward’s real value after wagering. A task needing £10 of play on a 96% RTP slot costs about 40p on average, so 20 wager-free spins at 10p (about £1.92 in average returns) look reasonable. A task asking for £100 of play to earn a £5 bonus with 10x wagering costs more than it returns on average. Our expected value guide shows the method.
Do mission rewards have wagering requirements?
Some do. Cash rewards and many spin rewards carry no wagering, but bonus-fund rewards often do. Since 19 January 2026, UK rules cap wagering on bonus funds at 10 times the bonus, so a £5 bonus reward can need at most £50 of play. That wagering has its own average cost, which reduces what the reward is really worth. Always check the reward’s terms before starting the task, not after. Our 10x wagering cap page and wagering requirements guide explain the details.
Can a mission ask me to bet on sport and play slots?
No, not for players in Great Britain since 19 January 2026. The Gambling Commission banned incentives that combine more than one type of gambling product, so a single mission can’t ask for a football bet and casino spins, or give casino rewards for sportsbook activity. Casinos that also run sportsbooks now keep their missions on one product. Our page on the mixed-product promotion ban explains the rule, and sports or casino welcome offer covers how it affects sign-up deals.
Why did my mission progress stop updating?
The most common reasons are playing a game that isn’t listed, staking below the minimum, playing from a bonus balance the mission doesn’t count, or the deadline passing. Some trackers also update with a short delay. Check the mission terms against what you played, then refresh the page or app. If the numbers still look wrong, contact support with the game names, stakes and times. Our guides on contacting support about a bonus and checking wagering progress explain what details to include.
Are missions only for existing customers?
Mostly. Missions are typically used to reward people who already have an account, while new customers are offered a welcome deal instead. Some welcome offers work like a single mission, though: Coral and Ladbrokes, for example, give spins once you’ve deposited and bet £10 on slots. If you want to see what established customers are offered, our existing customer free spins page and the partner pages on Coral existing customers explain what to look for. Offers change, so check each promotions page.
Can missions reward playing every day?
There’s no specific ban on that. When the Gambling Commission rewrote its incentives code from 19 January 2026, it deleted an older clause saying a reward’s value must not depend on gambling for a pre-determined length of time or frequency, and it dropped a proposed replacement. What the code does say is that a casino can’t alter or increase a mission’s reward because you complete it sooner than the full period, and the terms must be clear and fair. Daily offers that pay the same reward each day, such as a set number of spins per day, are the simplest structure to judge. Our time-based incentive rules page and daily bonus page explain the detail.
What happens to a half-finished mission?
Usually nothing is paid. Most missions only reward completion, so if the deadline passes with the tracker at 90%, you get no reward and the play you did still counts as normal play. Some multi-stage missions pay a smaller reward at each stage, which the terms will show. Don’t let a nearly full tracker push you past your budget: the money spent so far won’t come back by playing more. Our guides on why bonuses expire and when to say no to a bonus are worth reading.
Do our partner casinos offer missions?
We can’t confirm current mission promotions at any of our five partners, so check each promotions page. Coral’s app listing mentions Smart Rewards, a Rewards Grabber and Coral Coins, and Ladbrokes’ listing mentions LadBucks, but those descriptions don’t give task or reward details. What we can confirm are the welcome offers: Coral’s 100 spins and Ladbrokes’ up to 500 spins after a £10 slots bet, and PlayOJO’s 80 wager-free spins on a first deposit of £10 or more. All are 18+ and terms apply. See our Coral bonus page for full terms.
