The best slots for clearing wagering are simply the ones your bonus terms allow, that count 100% towards the requirement and that publish a solid RTP; no slot makes wagering cheap, quick or likely to end in profit. This guide shows how RTP, volatility, stake size and the deadline change the real cost of play.
Eligibility comes first: a slot that isn't on the allowed list can void the bonus.
RTP sets the average cost: £1,000 of wagering costs about £40 at 96% RTP and about £30 at 97%.
Volatility changes the spread of results, not the average.
UK wagering is capped at 10x the bonus since 19 January 2026, and slot stakes at £5 (25+) or £2 (18–24).
Every slot keeps a house edge: wagering costs money on average, whichever game you pick.

Best slots for clearing wagering: what "best" really means
People searching for the best slots for clearing wagering usually hope there's a game that makes a bonus easy to cash out. There isn't. Every slot is built to return less than it takes over time, so every pound of wagering has an average cost. What you can do is pick a game that fits the rules of your bonus and understand what that choice does to the cost and the spread of outcomes.
In practice "best" means four things, in this order: the slot is on the eligible list, it counts in full towards wagering requirements, its published RTP is at the higher end of what's offered, and its volatility suits the size of your bonus and the time you have. The rest of this page takes each in turn, with pound figures. It's one of our casino bonus guides, written for adults aged 18 or over.
Nothing here is a way to beat the house edge. Choosing a game within the rules changes the average cost slightly; it never turns a bonus into a reliable profit, and losses are likely over time.

The average cost of wagering is the amount you must stake multiplied by the house edge, which is 100% minus the RTP. The table uses the two biggest wagering totals our partners' deposit matches can produce: £250 on 10bet's £25 bonus and £1,000 on Casumo's £100 bonus, both at 10x.

On a £25 bonus the gap between a 95% and a 98% slot is £7.50 on average; on a £100 bonus it's £30. That's a real difference, but it's an average across a huge number of sessions. In any single session the result can land far above or below it, and a short run on a high-RTP slot can easily cost more than a short run on a lower one. Our page on high RTP slots for bonuses goes deeper on RTP versions and where to check them.
RTP must be available to players before they play under the Commission's technical standard RTS 3 (opens in a new tab), so you don't have to rely on anyone's list. Open the game, tap the info or help icon, and the figure should be there. Some slots come in several RTP versions, and the casino chooses which one to run, so the number on your screen is the one that counts.
Volatility and the chance of finishing your wagering
Volatility describes how a slot spreads its returns. A low-volatility game pays smaller amounts more often, so a balance tends to drift down gradually. A high-volatility game pays less often but can pay much larger amounts, so a balance more often drops to zero quickly and occasionally jumps. Two slots with the same RTP have the same average cost; volatility only changes how that cost is distributed.
For wagering, that trade-off is easy to state. With a low-volatility slot, more sessions reach the end of the requirement, usually with a modest amount left. With a high-volatility slot, more sessions end early with the bonus gone, while a few finish with a larger balance. Neither changes what you pay on average, and neither is a method for winning. Pick the style of play you'd actually enjoy at a stake you're comfortable losing.
Advantages
Lower volatility: steadier balance, more sessions reach the end of wagering.
Lower volatility: easier to stay within a set budget and session time.
Higher volatility: bigger individual wins are possible, within the slot's max win.
Drawbacks
Lower volatility: remaining balances are usually small, and big wins are rare.
Higher volatility: more sessions end with the bonus at zero before wagering is done.
Higher volatility: results swing more, which can make chasing losses tempting; set a limit first.
Best slots for clearing wagering, grouped by volatility
The table lists well-known slots with RTP, volatility and max win from published developer figures. It isn't a list of games any partner allows for a given bonus: eligible games differ by offer, and casinos may run a different RTP version, so check the game's help screen and the offer terms. Each name links to our page on free spins for that slot.
Published figures for popular slots, by volatility
Notice that a slot's RTP and its suitability for a particular bonus are separate questions. Blood Suckers has one of the highest published RTPs in the table, which is exactly the kind of game some operators leave off eligible lists or weight at a lower rate. If it's excluded from your offer, it isn't an option, however good the number looks.
Stake size, spin time and the wagering deadline
Wagering has a clock on it. 10bet's welcome bonus must be wagered 10x on slots within 3 days; Casumo's within 7 days. Your stake decides how many spins that takes, and UK design rules decide how fast those spins can go: since 31 October 2021, each online slot spin must take at least 2.5 seconds under RTS 14 (opens in a new tab), with no autoplay or turbo.

Real sessions take far longer than these minimums, because features, pauses and reality checks add time. Bigger stakes finish the requirement in fewer spins but don't lower the average cost, which is fixed by the total staked. They do make each swing larger. The legal ceiling is £5 a spin for players aged 25 and over and £2 for 18 to 24-year-olds, as set out in the Commission's online slots stake limit guidance (opens in a new tab); Casumo also caps bets at £5 while its bonus is active. Our online slot stake limits page has the dates.
How to choose a slot for a wagering bonus
Open the offer's significant terms and note the wagering multiple, deadline, max bet and any game list or contribution table.
Shortlist slots that are eligible and count 100% towards wagering.
Open each shortlisted game's help screen and note the RTP shown there, not a figure from elsewhere.
Decide on a stake that stays under the offer's max bet and your legal stake limit, and that you'd be comfortable losing.
Divide the wagering total by your stake to see how many spins you'll need, and check that fits the deadline.
Pick the game from your shortlist you'd enjoy at that stake, then set a deposit limit or session reminder before playing.
Bonus terms must set out every type or pattern of prohibited play clearly in advance; the Commission's guidance on promotional play restrictions (opens in a new tab) says operators can't ban a form of play nobody was told about. That cuts both ways: whatever the terms do list, you're bound by. The usual ones are:
staking more than the max bet while a bonus is active;
playing excluded games, or games outside the eligible list;
patterns the terms define as irregular play, such as switching to minimal stakes after a big win to run down the clock;
low-risk betting on table games, where covering most outcomes is used to turn over wagering;
opening more than one account or using someone else's details.
Breaking a listed rule can cost the bonus and anything won with it. We don't offer ways around these terms, and they're there partly to stop exactly the kind of "clearing strategy" that gets promoted elsewhere. If winnings are removed, the casino has to explain the breach; what happens if I break bonus terms? explains the process.
How the 10x cap changed which slots matter
Before 19 January 2026 there was no limit on wagering multiples. The Commission's own example in its announcement on safer and simpler gambling promotions (opens in a new tab) was a £10 bonus with 50x wagering, which needed £500 of play. At a 4% edge that's £20 of average cost on a £10 bonus, so the bonus was worth less than nothing on average, and game choice barely mattered.
With the 10x wagering cap, the same £10 bonus needs at most £100 of play, costing about £4 at 96% RTP. Lower requirements mean a larger share of bonuses survive wagering, and the gap between a 96% and a 97% slot is a smaller number of pounds. The cap also makes the choice of game less about grinding and more about picking something eligible that you enjoy.
When a no-wagering offer is simpler
If the reason you're searching for the best slots for clearing wagering is that wagering feels like hard work, a no wagering bonus may suit you better. Free spins without wagering pay winnings in cash, so there's nothing to clear and no game choice to worry about after the spins are played. The trade-off is that the slots are chosen for you, and the amounts are smaller.

Keeping wagering within a budget
Wagering targets can nudge people into playing longer or staking more than they planned, just to avoid losing the bonus. It's better to lose a bonus than to chase it. Set a deposit limit before opting in, decide in advance how long you'll play, and stop when either runs out. Our guide to budgeting with a casino bonus has a simple method.

Partner offers with wagering to clear
Two partner offers carry wagering. 10bet's casino bonus is a 100% match up to £25 for new UK customers, wagered 10x on slots within 3 days, with maximum bonus winnings of £1,000; Skrill and Neteller deposits are excluded. Frequently asked questions
What is the best slot to clear wagering requirements?
There's no single best slot, because the answer depends on your bonus terms. The right choice is a slot that's on the eligible list, counts 100% towards wagering and shows a strong RTP in its help screen. Volatility then decides how steady the ride is. No slot removes the house edge, so wagering always costs money on average. Our how to clear a bonus guide shows how to read the eligible games list before you choose.
Do high RTP slots make wagering cheaper?
On average, yes, by a modest amount. The average cost of wagering is the total staked times the house edge, so £1,000 of play costs about £40 at 96% RTP and about £30 at 97%. That's a long-run average: any single session can cost far more or less. Many casinos also exclude or down-weight some high-RTP slots. See high RTP slots for bonuses for how to check the version a casino runs.
Are low volatility slots better for wagering?
They give a steadier ride, not a cheaper one. With the same RTP, low and high-volatility slots cost the same on average. Low volatility means more sessions reach the end of wagering with a small balance; high volatility means more sessions end early, and a few finish with more. Choose the style you enjoy at a stake you can afford to lose. Our volatility entry explains how studios describe it.
Can I use any slot to clear my bonus?
Not always. Bonus terms often include an eligible games list, a list of excluded titles or a contribution table where some slots count at less than 100%. Playing an excluded game can void the bonus and its winnings. 10bet's welcome bonus must be wagered on slots, and Casumo's has game restrictions. Read the significant terms first, and see why are some games excluded from bonuses? for the usual reasons.
How many spins does it take to clear £250 of wagering?
It depends on your stake: £250 divided by the stake per spin. At 20p that's 1,250 spins, at 50p it's 500, and at £1 it's 250. Since 31 October 2021 each UK slot spin must last at least 2.5 seconds, so 1,250 spins take at least 52 minutes, and real sessions take longer. The total staked, not the stake size, sets the average cost. Our wagering calculator runs the numbers for any bonus.
Does betting bigger clear wagering faster?
It clears it in fewer spins, but it doesn't make it cheaper, and it makes each swing larger. The average cost is fixed by the total you stake. Bets are also limited: Casumo caps stakes at £5 with an active bonus, and UK law caps online slots at £5 a spin for over-25s and £2 for 18 to 24-year-olds. Going over an offer's max bet can cost the bonus. See casino bonus max bet for how the limits work.
Can I clear slot wagering on roulette or blackjack instead?
Only if the terms allow it, and many don't. Table games often count at a reduced rate or not at all, and 10bet's welcome bonus must be wagered on slots. Some terms also treat covering most outcomes on roulette as prohibited low-risk betting. Breaking those rules can cost the bonus and its winnings. Our can I use a bonus on roulette? page explains how table game contribution usually works.
Does the 10x cap apply to slots only?
No, the 10x cap applies to bonus wagering generally. Since 19 January 2026, the Commission's social responsibility code says a bonus can't require play-through of more than 10 times the bonus, whatever games the offer covers. Game contribution rates can still mean you stake more on games that count at less than 100%, so check the terms. The 10x wagering cap page covers the rule and what it doesn't change.
What happens if I don't finish wagering in time?
Under most UK terms, the unwagered bonus and any winnings made with it are removed when the deadline passes. Your own deposit and its winnings stay yours and can be withdrawn. 10bet gives 3 days and Casumo 7 days, so work out how many spins the requirement takes before opting in. It's better to let a bonus lapse than to play faster or longer than you planned. The bonus expiry guide explains the details.
Is there a way to guarantee I clear a bonus with profit?
No. Every slot returns less than it takes on average, so wagering has a cost, and no game choice or staking pattern changes that. Methods sold as clearing systems either don't work or break the terms, which can void the bonus. The honest way to judge a bonus is its expected value: the bonus minus the average cost of wagering. Our guide to the expected value of a casino bonus shows the sum.
