Voucher code meaning, at a UK casino: a string of letters or numbers you enter to claim a promotion, or a prepaid code, such as a 16-digit paysafecard PIN, used to pay money in. The two are easy to confuse and behave very differently: one may add a bonus, the other can stop you getting one.
A promotional voucher code claims a specific offer; a prepaid voucher code is a way to pay.
None of our five partner casinos needs a code for its welcome offer.
Coral and Ladbrokes exclude Paysafe and prepaid card deposits from their welcome spins.
Codes found on unofficial sites can be expired, fake or for unlicensed casinos.

Voucher code meaning: the two senses at a casino
In everyday shopping a voucher code takes money off a purchase. Casinos borrow the phrase for two separate things, and it helps to know which one a page means before you type anything in. Both are listed in our casino bonus glossary.

So a code can either help or block a bonus, depending on which kind it is. The rest of this page takes each in turn.
Promotional voucher codes and casino bonuses
A promotional voucher code is a label for an offer. Some casinos use codes to tell apart offers aimed at different audiences, for instance one advertised by email and another on a partner site. Typing the code at sign-up or in the cashier attaches that offer to your account. Our guide on how to use a bonus code walks through where to enter one, and casino bonus codes lists current UK codes.
Many UK welcome offers no longer use codes at all; you opt in with a tick-box or by following an offer link. Our comparison of bonus codes vs automatic bonuses explains the trend, and the short answer to do casino bonuses need a code? is “often not”. A code never changes the bonus terms: wagering, max bet, expiry and payment exclusions are the same whether or not you typed it.
Codes promising large no-deposit bonuses on unofficial sites are a common lure. Check the casino holds a Gambling Commission licence first; our guide to casino bonus scams to avoid explains the warning signs.
Prepaid voucher codes for deposits
The best-known prepaid voucher in the UK is paysafecard. According to paysafecard’s own explanation of how it works (opens in a new tab), you buy a code at a shop and pay online by entering the 16-digit PIN, with no bank account or card needed; UK values are £10, £25, £40, £50, £75 and £100. Fees can apply after a period of non-use, so check the provider’s terms.
Prepaid vouchers often rule you out of welcome offers. Coral’s terms exclude Paysafe and prepaid card deposits, and Ladbrokes’ terms exclude prepaid cards and Paysafe too. Coral’s and Ladbrokes’ help centres also say they take paysafecard through a paysafecard account rather than loose vouchers. See paysafecard casino bonus and is Paysafecard excluded from bonuses? for the full picture, and our guide on how payment exclusions work for why casinos do this.
Voucher code example with numbers
Say you buy a £25 paysafecard voucher and deposit it at a casino whose welcome offer gives 100 spins at 10p (£10 of spins) after a £10 slots bet. If the terms exclude Paysafe deposits, the £25 lands as cash but the 100 spins don’t follow. With a debit card, the same £25 would qualify. The voucher cost you nothing extra, but it removed £10 of spins, worth about £9.60 on average at 96% RTP, from the deal.
A promotional code works the other way round. If an offer needs code ABC10 and you forget it, the bonus may not attach even though your deposit qualifies. Casinos differ on whether they will add it afterwards, so ask support straight away; our guide to why a bonus might not be credited sets out the steps.
UK advertising rules on vouchers and codes
Ads for a voucher or code-based offer must show its significant conditions. The ASA’s guidance on free bets and bonuses (opens in a new tab) summarises a 2025 ruling where a £5 free bet voucher wasn’t valid on Cheltenham Gold Cup day; leaving that out of the ad was found to breach the Code. Our page on significant conditions in ads explains the wider rule.
No: none of our five partners asks for a promotional code on its welcome offer. Coral (18+, new players, terms apply) gives 100 free spins at 10p on selected games when you deposit and bet £10 or more on slots; accept them within 48 hours, use them within 7 days, no wagering on winnings. Ladbrokes (18+, new customers, terms apply) gives 50 free spins a day for 10 days, up to 500 at 10p, once you spend £10 on slots, each batch claimed before 23:59 and valid 7 days, no wagering. Our Coral promo code and Ladbrokes promo code pages confirm the details.
PlayOJO (18+, new UK customers excluding Northern Ireland, terms apply) gives 80 free spins on Big Bass Bonanza at 10p after a first deposit of at least £10, with no wagering, but only through its designated offer link; see PlayOJO promo code. If you prefer prepaid payments, remember Coral and Ladbrokes exclude Paysafe and prepaid cards from their spins. Treat any offer as paid entertainment rather than income.
Coral and Ladbrokes are both run by LC International Limited (Entain). If you already hold an account with one Entain brand, you may not be able to open a new account with another; check the terms before signing up.

Frequently asked questions
What is a voucher code at an online casino?
It is either a promotional code that claims a particular offer or a prepaid code used to deposit money. Promotional codes are typed at sign-up or in the cashier and attach an offer to your account; they have no cash value. Prepaid codes, such as a 16-digit paysafecard PIN, carry the money you paid for them and are entered on the payment screen. Prepaid deposits are often excluded from welcome bonuses, so the second kind can stop you getting an offer. See how to use a bonus code for the first kind.
Is a voucher code the same as a promo code?
When a casino talks about a voucher code for an offer, yes, it means the same as a promo or bonus code. Different sites prefer different words: voucher code, promo code, bonus code and offer code all describe a short string that tells the casino which promotion you want. The terms of the offer are what decide its value, not the code itself. Our casino bonus codes page lists current UK codes and notes which major offers need none, including all five partner offers we cover.
Do I need a voucher code for Coral, Ladbrokes or PlayOJO?
No, none of these three casinos asks for a code on its current welcome offer. Coral and Ladbrokes attach their free spins when you deposit with a qualifying method and bet or spend £10 on slots. PlayOJO’s 80 free spins on Big Bass Bonanza come with a first deposit of at least £10, but only when you sign up through its designated offer link. The same applies at Casumo and 10bet, our other partners. Each casino’s promo code page, such as PlayOJO promo code, sets out the exact steps.
Can I use a paysafecard voucher to claim a casino bonus?
Often not: many UK welcome offers exclude paysafecard and other prepaid deposits. Coral’s and Ladbrokes’ offer terms both list Paysafe and prepaid cards as non-qualifying, so the deposit would land as cash without the spins. Other casinos may accept paysafecard for a bonus, but you need to check the payment section of the terms before paying. Coral and Ladbrokes also say they take paysafecard through an account rather than single vouchers. Our paysafecard casino bonus page compares how our partners treat it.
What happens if I forget to enter a voucher code?
If the offer needed a code and you skipped it, the bonus may not be added, even if your deposit qualified. Contact the casino’s support team as soon as you notice, with the offer name, the time of your deposit and the code. Some casinos will attach the offer by hand; others say the code must be entered at the time. If the offer was automatic, a missing code makes no difference. Our guide to why a bonus might not be credited gives a step-by-step checklist.
Are voucher codes for no deposit bonuses real?
Some are, but in the UK genuine no-deposit codes are now rare, and none of our partners offers one. Codes promising large no-deposit bonuses often turn out to be expired, limited to a tiny amount with strict terms, or linked to casinos without a Gambling Commission licence. An unlicensed site offers you none of the UK protections on terms, withdrawals or complaints. Before using any code, check the casino on the Commission’s public register. Our page on no deposit bonus codes explains what is actually available.
Can a voucher code change the bonus terms?
No, a code only selects an offer; the wagering, max bet, expiry and payment rules come from that offer’s terms. Two people claiming the same offer with and without a code should get identical conditions. If a site claims its code gives better terms, check the casino’s own promotion page, because the casino’s terms are what apply. Since 19 January 2026, no bonus in Great Britain can require more than 10x wagering, whatever code you used. Our bonus terms after January 2026 page summarises the current rules.
