Free spins on Novomatic slots

Free spins on Novomatic slots give you the classic Deluxe games, such as Book of Ra Deluxe and Dolphin’s Pearl Deluxe, at a typical 10p a spin. Their RTPs sit between about 95.1% and 95.66%, so 100 spins return around £9.51 to £9.57 on average, slightly less than most modern slots.

Key takeaways

  • Novomatic’s online games come through its Greentube studio, which holds a Gambling Commission licence (account 41020).
  • RTPs in our data run from 95.1% to 95.66%, so 100 spins at 10p average about £9.51 to £9.57.
  • Sizzling Hot Deluxe has no free games round at all; Book of Ra Deluxe uses an expanding symbol.
  • None of our partners names a Novomatic game for its spins; check each offer’s game list.

Free spins on Novomatic slots, in brief

A casino free spins offer on a Novomatic game works like any other spin deal: you get a fixed number of spins at a set stake, usually 10p, on a slot the casino names. What makes Novomatic different is the games themselves. They are mostly 5 × 3 titles with 5 or 10 paylines, straightforward features and RTPs a little under 96%, which nudges the average value of each spin down.

None of our five partners names a Novomatic slot for its welcome spins at the moment. PlayOJO’s offer is fixed to Big Bass Bonanza, and Coral and Ladbrokes show their eligible titles on each promotion page, which can change. So treat this page as a guide to what Novomatic spins are worth if you meet them, and use our free spins hub to compare the offers we list.

Novomatic and Greentube: who makes the games

Novomatic was founded in 1980 by Johann Graf, who still owns it, and is based in Gumpoldskirchen, Austria. It built its name on land-based gaming machines across Europe; the Novomatic history on Wikipedia (opens in a new tab) traces how it grew, including its UK acquisitions.

Online, the games are run by Greentube, a Vienna company whose origins go back to 1998 and which took the Greentube name in 2000. It joined the Novomatic Group in 2010, has a UK office in Nottingham, and holds a Gambling Commission remote gambling software licence under account 41020, alongside a Malta licence. When a UK casino lists a Novomatic slot, it is Greentube’s online version you are playing. The Commission’s register of gambling businesses (opens in a new tab) lets you look up any licence account number.

Why free spins on Novomatic slots return a little less

The quickest way to value any free spins offer is spins × stake × RTP. Novomatic’s classics were designed in the land-based era, and their online RTPs cluster around 95.1%. That means a house edge of roughly 4.3% to 4.9%, against about 3.3% on a 96.71% game such as Big Bass Bonanza.

On 100 spins the difference is pennies, so it shouldn’t decide which offer you take. Where it matters more is when winnings carry wagering, because the higher edge is charged again on every pound you replay. Our guide to high RTP slots for bonuses explains why RTP counts most during wagering.

The expanding symbol: how Book of Ra Deluxe free games work

Book of Ra Deluxe is the template for a whole genre. The book symbol acts as both wild and scatter, and three or more of them start a round of 10 free games. Before the round begins, one symbol is picked at random to become a special expanding symbol. During the free games, when enough of that symbol land, it grows to fill whole reels and pays across all lines, even if the reels aren’t next to each other. More books during the round can add further free games.

Lord of the Ocean uses the same expanding-symbol idea in an underwater setting. Because one premium symbol filling several reels at once is what produces the biggest wins, these games are lumpy: many rounds pay little and a few pay a great deal. That explains the very high volatility rating on Book of Ra Deluxe. Our page on free spins on book slots compares the format across studios, and the exact rules for each version are on its paytable.

Tripled wins and no-feature fruit: Novomatic’s other formats

Dolphin’s Pearl Deluxe and Lucky Lady’s Charm Deluxe take a different route. Their scatter symbols, the pearl and the crystal ball, start a round of free games in which wins are multiplied, with the paytables describing 15 free games and wins tripled. That multiplier is the whole appeal: a modest line hit becomes a decent one. Versions can differ between casinos, so check the paytable for the exact numbers before relying on them.

Sizzling Hot Deluxe is the exception. It is a five-line fruit game with no free games round at all; the star scatter pays on its own and that is the only extra. A casino free spin on Sizzling Hot is therefore just a base-game spin, and the 95.66% RTP comes entirely from line wins and scatters. For more games in that style, see our pages on fruit slots and classic slots.

  • Expanding symbol rounds: Book of Ra Deluxe, Lord of the Ocean.
  • Multiplier rounds: Dolphin’s Pearl Deluxe, Lucky Lady’s Charm Deluxe.
  • No free games feature: Sizzling Hot Deluxe.

Very high volatility on 10 lines: what 10p spins can do

On a 10-line Novomatic game, a 10p spin means 1p a line. That’s why base-game wins on these slots often look tiny during a spin offer. The volatility rating tells you how the 95.1% average is delivered: on Book of Ra Deluxe, most of it arrives through rare expanding-symbol rounds, so a batch of 50 spins (£5 of play, averaging about £4.76 back) will frequently return much less.

The upper limit shrinks with the stake too. A maximum of 5,000× stake, as listed for Sizzling Hot Deluxe and (with figures varying by source) Book of Ra Deluxe, works out like this:

A 5,000× max win at different stakes
Stake per spinMaximum from one spin
10p (typical free spin)£500
20p£1,000
£1£5,000
£2 (UK cap for 18–24s)£10,000

A maximum is a ceiling, not an expectation. Reaching it is extremely unlikely in any single session, and the house edge applies to every spin whatever the stake.

Wagering on Novomatic free spins winnings

Suppose 50 spins on Dolphin’s Pearl Deluxe return the average of £4.76. If the offer has no wagering, that £4.76 is cash. If the winnings must be wagered 10x, the most a UK casino can now require under the 10x wagering cap, you have £47.60 to play through. At a 4.87% house edge, that play costs about £2.32 on average, leaving roughly £2.44.

Run the same sum on a 96.71% game and the cost of £47.60 of play falls to about £1.57. The gap is small in pounds but large in proportion: on a Novomatic game, 10x wagering eats nearly half the average winnings, which is why no-wagering spins hold their value better on these titles.

How UK rules shape Novomatic games and spin offers

The Novomatic slots you can play in Great Britain follow the Gambling Commission’s technical standards, which differ from some other markets.

  • Stake caps: online slots are limited to £5 a spin for players aged 25 and over (since 9 April 2025) and £2 for those aged 18 to 24 (since 21 May 2025), as our slot stake limits page explains.
  • Speed and autoplay: since 31 October 2021, each spin takes at least 2.5 seconds, autoplay and turbo are switched off, and a loss can’t be celebrated as a win. Our slot design rules page covers the detail.
  • Bonus round access: slots supplied to Great Britain don’t sell entry to the free games, so the book or pearl scatters must land naturally.
  • Bonus terms: the Commission’s rewards and bonuses code 5.1.1 (opens in a new tab) has capped wagering at 10x and banned mixed-product promotions since 19 January 2026.
  • Demo play: even free demo versions need age verification first.

How to judge a Novomatic free spins offer in six steps

  1. Find the named game and check it’s the version you expect; Book of Ra Deluxe has two RTP settings.
  2. Multiply spins by stake: 50 spins at 10p are £5, 100 spins £10.
  3. Multiply by the game’s RTP for the average return, roughly 95p in the pound for these titles.
  4. Read the wagering line. No wagering keeps winnings as cash; any multiple must be 10x or below.
  5. Check which deposit methods qualify; our guide to payment exclusions explains the common ones.
  6. Decide your budget before depositing and set a deposit limit in your account.

Where to play: partner spin offers instead of Novomatic games

None of our partners runs its welcome spins on a Novomatic game, so here is how the real offers compare. PlayOJO gives 80 free spins on Big Bass Bonanza for new UK customers outside Northern Ireland who make a first deposit of at least £10. The spins are 10p each, so £8 of play, and winnings have no wagering. At 96.71% RTP, the average return is a little higher than on any Novomatic title in our data.

Coral’s offer is 100 free spins after you deposit and bet £10 on slots (offer runs 1 October 2026 to 1 February 2027): 10p each on its selected games, 48 hours to accept, 7 days to use, no wagering. Neteller, PayPal, Paysafe, Skrill, prepaid cards and certain debit cards don’t qualify. Ladbrokes free spins work out at up to 500 spins, 50 a day for 10 days after you deposit and spend £10 on slots, each 10p, claimed by 23:59 daily, valid 7 days, no wagering; prepaid cards, PayPal, Paysafe, Neteller, Skrill and Moneybookers are excluded. Coral and Ladbrokes share an operator, LC International Limited, so read the terms before joining both.

Frequently asked questions

Do any UK casinos give free spins on Novomatic slots?

Some do from time to time, but none of our five partners currently names a Novomatic game for its welcome spins. PlayOJO’s spins are fixed to Big Bass Bonanza, and Coral and Ladbrokes publish a selected games list on each promotion page. If you see an offer elsewhere on Book of Ra Deluxe or Dolphin’s Pearl Deluxe, check the operator’s licence and read the terms first. Whether you can pick the game yourself is covered in can I choose my free spins slot.

What are 50 free spins on Book of Ra Deluxe worth?

Fifty spins at 10p are £5 of play, and at the 95.1% RTP the long-run average return is about £4.76. If the casino runs the 94.26% version, the average falls to about £4.71. Because Book of Ra Deluxe is very volatile, most batches of 50 spins return less than that, while an occasional expanding-symbol round returns far more. The value of each spin is set by its stake, which our coin value glossary entry explains.

Does Sizzling Hot Deluxe have a free spins feature?

No. Sizzling Hot Deluxe is a five-line fruit slot with no free games round; its only extra is a star scatter that pays wherever it lands. So a casino free spin on this game is simply a normal spin at the offer’s stake, and the 95.66% RTP comes from line wins and scatter pays alone. That makes it one of the plainest games to value. To see what stake spins usually run at, read what stake free spins are played at.

Why are Novomatic RTPs lower than newer slots?

Most of Novomatic’s best-known games started as land-based machines and were brought online with RTPs around 95.1% to 95.66%, while many newer online slots quote 96% or more. The difference on 100 spins at 10p is only 10p to 24p on average, but it grows when winnings must be wagered. RTP is a long-run figure that says nothing certain about any one session. Our explainer on whether free spins are really free puts that cost in context.

Can free spins retrigger in Book of Ra Deluxe?

Yes, according to the game’s rules, landing more book scatters during the free games can add further free games, played with the same expanding symbol. A casino’s promotional free spins and the slot’s built-in free games are separate, though: if a 10p promo spin triggers the round, the extra games are played at 10p too and count as part of that spin. Exact retrigger rules can vary by version, so check the paytable. The general rules are set out in can you retrigger free spins.

Is Book of Ra Deluxe an Egyptian slot?

Yes. Book of Ra Deluxe follows an explorer searching an Egyptian tomb, with the Book of Ra as its wild and scatter, and its expanding-symbol free games inspired a long line of similar ‘book’ games from other studios. If you like the theme, offers on other Egyptian titles behave in much the same way, though RTPs and volatility differ. Our page on free spins on Egyptian slots compares the main games and what a 10p spin is worth on each.

How does 10x wagering affect Novomatic free spins?

It removes a larger share of the average winnings than on higher-RTP games. On 50 spins of Dolphin’s Pearl Deluxe averaging £4.76, 10x wagering means £47.60 of play; at a 4.87% house edge, that costs about £2.32, leaving around £2.44 on average. With no wagering you keep the full £4.76 as cash. Since 19 January 2026, 10x is the UK maximum. Whether an offer is still good value after that is the subject of is a casino bonus worth it.

Can I try Novomatic slots in demo mode first?

Only after verifying your age. Since May 2019, UK-licensed casinos must confirm you are 18 or over before you can play even free demo versions, and they must verify your identity before you deposit or gamble. Demo games must behave like the real-money version, so they show how the features look. They can’t tell you what any real session will return. More detail is in can I play free spins in demo mode.

Who licenses Novomatic games in the UK?

Novomatic’s online slots are supplied by its subsidiary Greentube, which holds a Gambling Commission remote gambling software licence under account 41020 and has a UK office in Nottingham. The casino that offers the games needs its own operator licence too. You can check both on the Commission’s public register. A licence means UK rules apply, including stake limits, the 10x wagering cap and access to complaints routes. Our free spins hub lists only offers from UK-licensed partners.

Which partner offer is closest to Novomatic free spins?

None uses a Novomatic game, so choose on terms. PlayOJO gives 80 no-wagering spins on Big Bass Bonanza after a £10 first deposit, which suits anyone who likes a fixed, simple game. Coral gives 100 no-wagering spins on selected games after a £10 slots bet, and Ladbrokes gives up to 500 spins over 10 days after £10 of slots play. All are 18+ and terms apply. A fuller comparison is in which casino has the best free spins.
