UKGC licence number meaning: the account number the Gambling Commission gives a licensed business, which you can type into the Commission's public register to confirm who runs a casino and whether its licence is active. Coral and Ladbrokes, for example, both sit under account 54743, held by LC International Limited.
The "licence number" shown by a casino is the operator's account number on the Commission's register.
Search the public register by account number, business name, trading name or domain.
Check the status says Active and that the casino's web address is listed.
One account number can cover several brands, as with Coral and Ladbrokes (54743).
No UKGC number means no UK protections: no 10x cap, no ADR, no GAMSTOP.

UKGC licence number meaning: an account, not a single licence
When a casino footer says "licensed by the Gambling Commission, account number 39326", that number identifies the business that holds the licence, not the website. One account can hold several licences, such as remote casino and remote bingo, and it can cover many brands and domains. That is why the term "licence number" is a little misleading: what you're really checking is the operator's account on the public register (opens in a new tab).
Every licensed operator should display its licensed status, and the Commission says the licence and account number should appear in the site or app footer. The detail you see in a footer may vary with where you're browsing from, so treat the register, not the footer, as the reliable source. Our guide on how to check a casino licence goes through each step in more detail.
How to check a UKGC licence number in five steps
Find the number in the casino's footer, terms and conditions or "about us" page.
Open the Gambling Commission's business register and search by that account number, or by the business or trading name.
Check the licence status reads Active, not Expired, Suspended, Revoked or Surrendered.
Open the domain names list and confirm the exact web address you're on appears and is marked Active.
Look at the regulatory actions tab for past fines or settlements.
Trading names and domains on the register are supplied by the businesses themselves, and the Commission says it can't vouch for their accuracy. A matching domain is strong evidence, but if anything looks off, contact the casino and the Commission before depositing.

When two brands share an account number, the same company runs both. Coral and Ladbrokes are the clearest example in our list: both belong to LC International Limited. For welcome offers, that can mean a person who already has an account with one brand isn't treated as a brand-new customer at the other. The offer terms decide this, so check them before opening a second account; our page on whether Coral and Ladbrokes share accounts and the sister site bonus rules go into detail.
Here's what's at stake in pounds. Coral's welcome offer is 100 spins at 10p, worth £10; Ladbrokes' is up to 500 spins at 10p over 10 days, worth up to £50. Someone assuming they can claim both, worth up to £60 of spins between them, could find one blocked under the one offer per household or new-customer wording. Reading the eligibility line first avoids a dispute later.
A site that shows no Commission account number, or one that doesn't lead to an active entry listing its domain, should be treated as unlicensed for Great Britain. Players there have no capped wagering, no GAMSTOP, no British ADR and no duty on the site to verify age before play. Bonus terms can be anything the site chooses. Our guides to telling a licensed casino from an unlicensed one and offshore casino bonus risks explain the consequences. Players in Northern Ireland should note that Commission rules cover Great Britain only.
All three offers below come from operators with active Commission licences. 18+ new customers only; terms apply. Ladbrokes (also 54743): play £10 on slots to get 50 free spins a day for 10 days, up to 500 at 10p, claimed before 23:59 each day and valid 7 days, no wagering.
PlayOJO (account 39326): 80 free spins on Big Bass Bonanza at 10p with a first deposit of at least £10, winnings paid in cash with no wagering, not available in Northern Ireland and not combinable with other offers. Frequently asked questions
What is a UKGC licence number?
A UKGC licence number is the account number the Gambling Commission gives a licensed gambling business, shown on the casino's site and on the Commission's public register. It identifies the company, not a single website, so one number can cover several brands. Searching it on the register shows the licence holder, its status, its activities and its approved domains. Our how to check a casino licence guide walks you through a search.
Where do I find a casino's UKGC licence number?
You'll usually find it in the website or app footer, often next to the Gambling Commission logo, and in the terms and conditions. The Commission says licensed operators should display their licence and account number there. If you can't see it, search the register by the casino's name or web address instead. Footer details can differ depending on where you browse from, so the register is the more reliable check. See how to tell a licensed casino from an unlicensed one.
Why do Coral and Ladbrokes have the same licence number?
Coral and Ladbrokes share account number 54743 because the same company, LC International Limited, part of Entain, holds the licence for both. Sharing a licence holder can affect welcome offers, since one person may not be treated as a new customer at both brands. Check each offer's eligibility terms before opening a second account. Our Coral vs Ladbrokes bonus comparison sets out both offers side by side.
Does a valid UKGC licence mean a bonus is fair?
No, a valid licence means the casino must follow the Commission's rules, but it doesn't make every offer good value. The rules cap wagering at 10x, require clear and fair terms and give you a complaints route through ADR. Within those limits, offers still vary widely in spin value, expiry and payment exclusions. Always convert an offer into pounds and read the significant terms. Our is a casino bonus worth it guide shows how.
What should I do if a casino's licence number doesn't match?
Don't deposit until you understand why. If the number leads to a different company, a suspended or revoked licence, or a domain list that doesn't include the site you're on, treat the site as unlicensed for Great Britain. A real number shown on an unrelated site is a warning sign in itself. Contact the operator named on the register through its official site, and report the mismatch to the Gambling Commission. Our offshore casino bonus risks guide explains what's lost without a licence.
Can I see a casino's fines on the UKGC register?
Yes, each register entry has a regulatory actions section listing public enforcement against the licence holder. It may not include every historical settlement, so the Commission's news pages are worth checking too. PlayOJO's operator, for instance, agreed a £305,150 settlement in May 2023. Past action doesn't automatically mean a casino is unsafe today, but it shows how it has handled the rules. Our operator fines for bonus failings page tracks promotion-related cases.
